Lovely place. And the rooms are amazing. Food was also great but the ros can be quite noisy with traffic in the morning. Other than that it was a fantastic stay!

Nice building and room with some great staff (the man that served breakfast) and not so great (the lady who bluntly told us the bar was shut at 10:40pm on Saturday as we walked back in - even though we hadn't asked!).
Three stars because for this price customers deserve more. Hotel guests should at least be served at the bar until 11pm, bed was very hard, breakfast limited (cooked part fine but ridiculously few other options - eg fruit was pears or plums and no plain yoghurt).
Seems like the management could so easily win this back and I hope they do.

Watch your head! Amazing old building and the rooms are well furnished, but watch your head for the low beams! It?s part of the character and charm, but don?t forget to duck!
The breakfast, for me, was epic! Every element was very tasty, extremely well presented and high quality. Superb coffee and juice too. I didn?t see the black pudding on the menu - but thank you - I loved it!

We popped in for lunch after visiting Petworth House NT. A showery Tuesday 22nd June. The restaurant was light and airy. I chose the Local fish and chips.
What I wasn't expecting was possibly the best fish and chips I've ever had. Really fresh Haddock, crispy batter with not a drop of excess oil, triple cooked chunky chips, again perfectly drained and amazingly crispy, peas and samphire. The chef deserves a commendation for serving a cracking lunch.

Probably the greatest burger I?ve ever had - perfectly presented, full of flavour and incredibly satisfying! Kudos to the chef and staff. A lovely dining experience.

Stopped on the way back from the festival of speed i had a burger which was lovely and the bacon was cooked perfectly and the other person on my table had fish and chips which also was nice ,

Wonderful visit for party of 7, we'd booked for 6 but no issue on arrival.
My guests from Arizona were enchanted with the pub's history, kindly explained by Matt the manager. He took time to enthisiastically describe Petworth's origins and how The Angel fitted in to early life there.
Food, service, beers, ambience all delightful.
The trout was exceptional!

Thoroughly enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch here yesterday (June 1st). Friendly waiters, astonishingly quick service and generous portions. Despite it currently being out of season, sitting under Wisteria is a lovely touch. Competitively priced, somewhere I?ll definitely be returning to!

Absolutely gob smackingly terrible time here! When we arrived it appeared the kitchen was shut and so the main menu was no longer an option. We had to order off the BBQ menu. Lots of options, chicken wings, skewers, halloumi, pork belly, koftas. And lots of salads to choose from. We picked lots of different things that we could share as a group of three. When it arrived, initially we thought only one dinner had arrived, but no, it was everything we had ordered. Tiniest portions I have ever seen in my life. The ?pork belly bites? we ordered turned out to be one single 2 inch squared piece of pork, which they charged for £9.50!!! One piece of halloumi which cost £7, and the salad we ordered I kid you not was hardly bigger than a thimble full. We were gobsmacked that they could charge so much for one bite plates. It was hardly enough for one person and came to £50. I then asked the waiter if that really was it and expressed most surprise at the prices they charged versus the quantity. He then brought us what was ?leftover on the bbq? which was a lot of extremely dry chicken skewers which filled us up a little more than we?d been but were hard to choke down. Then as we left, a swamp of some sort of waste water started filling up the courtyard. Really wouldn?t recommend, feel incredibly ripped off and criminal the amount they charge for the amount they gave.
