I am a 91 year old disabled pensioner, partly deaf with very restricted movement having to use a wheelchair.
I tried to change my eBay banking details, when I got to the end it requested that I fill in my old Halifax bank .account number. As I closed this account some years back, I could not remember it.
The account is closed with no money in it but I did contact Halifax and asked for their help with my old account number.
They told me I would have to visit a branch with identity for them to give it to me. The nearest branch is a fourteen mile round trip. As I have no transport I would find it impossible to do this but Halifax did not want to know. I have just read how Halifax bank are here to help. Think twice before you contact them. Is this discrimination ?

I have always found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful particularly when I was in process of buying my flat even though I hadn't chosen the Halifax as my mortgage provider.

Abysmal service! Went into the branch to close an account urgently due to fraud risk. No one available for 2 weeks in Horsham. Made an alternative appointment for Crawley branch for the following week (still hardly satisfactory) and appointment was cancelled due to a bereavement and then no one answering the phone to rearrange!!

Tried to pay my credit card bill at the counter today, one counter open, someone clearly doing an involved transaction requiring proof of identity etc (fair enough)3 other staff, 2 at the help desk and 1 in a side office, crazy. I know why I closed my current account and moved to Santander.

Extremely rude when trying to sort out my overdraft as mine had been removed but still had funds in there to pay important dd and when I asked if I could have it reinstated they where not helpful at all and asked if I wanted to make a complaint I said not now as I have been on the phone for over 2hrs and wanted this issue resolved first so passed me onto another department to then have the phone hang up on me!

Terrible. The worst customer service, never any answer when you try to call of you do manage to speak to someone they are patronising and unhelpful.
