Oh Claire?s, where childhood dreams go to die ? and apparently so does basic common sense.
My daughter came home in tears (great job, team!) because the staff refused to pierce her ears. Why? Because they didn?t believe her actual, living, breathing father was? her father. Yep, welcome to 2025, where Claire?s employees double as part-time DNA testing experts and full-time disrespect specialists.
Apparently, no birth certificate was needed to book the appointment ? but suddenly it's essential to prove fatherhood? What?s next, a lie detector and a family tree drawn in crayon?
And let?s just address the elephant in the glitter-covered room: the tired, offensive assumption that all Black families come with a mystery dad subplot. If the Claire?s staff would like to play ?Who?s the Daddy?? maybe they can try reality TV and leave people?s actual children out of it.
Honestly, if they?re this committed to playing gatekeeper at the ear piercing kiosk, maybe they should redirect that energy toward improving customer service ? or at least learning how to smile.
But no worries, we didn?t let Claire?s ruin the day. My daughter and her dad ended up going to Accessories, where they didn?t require a blood sample, a paternity test, or even both great-grandparents present to get the job done. Shocking, I know!

Awful experience. Need to learn customer service skills. Don?t know how they?re still operating. This isn?t the only review about this either.

Incredibly rude staff, couldn?t be bothered to provide any customer assistance. I must have encountered the same lady as a previous review mentioned as when asking a question got the same ?You talking to me?? Response to a question. There was no one else on the shop floor working at the time. The 2nd lady that appeared was just as unhelpful. I felt like an inconvenience. I thought shops were there to sell things, I felt like this wasn?t what the sales assistants wanted from the experience. Disappointing. I won?t be going back again.

Not fit to pierce people ears put the wrong type of stud and not long enough in my wife cartilage caused massive infection go somewhere proper

Very small store which makes it very cramped, however went in when they had a deal to buy three items and get three items free, which was great to get lots of items for a very good deal

Rude staff ! When you go into a shop and ask to see something and their answer is - Are you talking at me ? No acknowledgement no smiles no nothing surpised that shop isn't going bankrupt, disgusted and thats happened twice in 2 months !Get your act together !!

Gave one star as lowest could do! This store has possibly the rudest member of staff I've ever come across! She ignored us, then reluctantly opened cabinet for the 2 items we wanted to look at. She said she had to hold them and wouldn't let us look at them properly!! The looks we were given were scary! There was no politeness or smiling! Go get a job from home you obviously can't stand customers!! We left quickly without buying anything and went to the worthing branch! The staff in worthing are lovely!!

Genuinely one of the rudest staff members I?ve ever met! After standing at the till for a few minutes I politely asked the lady of i could pay for my item please, and she just abruptly replied I?m actually a bit busy right now (whilst mopping the floor?) she really said it with spite like i was a massive inconvenience for entering the store! Was literally holding back tears while she served me as she was so rude! They need to sort this out

Shop has a good big selection but the shop assistant was very rude,unwelcoming and more interested in her phone than customers.
