Without a doubt our favourite local pub!! Food is incredible, staff are so friendly and the atmosphere and local area are outstanding. You absolutely HAVE to visit. I highly recommend their roasts. The best roast dinner we've ever had!!

We went here for lunch today for my wife?s birthday and couldn?t have picked a better place. When I made the reservation I mentioned it was my wife?s birthday and asked to be seated next to a window if possible. We arrived to a warm welcome and not only were we seated by a window by my wife was offered a complimentary glass of Prosecco as well.
We were looked after by Jo who was both polite and friendly.
The food came out quickly, perfectly cooked and everything tasted really fresh.
We both had delicious deserts as well. This is everything a country pub should be - spotlessly clean, open fire, cosy and comfortable decor, lovely staff, tasty food with perfect portions and reasonably priced. - best place we?ve been to for a long time and the perfect pick for a birthday lunch. Will definitely be recommending to others!

Charming restaurant and pub, friendly and solicitous staff, allowed us to park there before our booked time so we could walk up to Harting Down. Excellent Sunday lunch.

For the attention of Rob Goodier, Upham Inns. We stayed at the White Hart on 5 November in one of your double rooms for a special occasion on our way to a family celebration. When we arrived we were informed that you were having 'issues' with the boiler. An electric heater had been put in our room and we were advised there should be some hot water. The heater was fine and warmed the room but there was absolutely no hot water. We had dinner in the pub that evening and were told that there would be some hot water for a shower in the morning. We got up early in the morning and ran and ran the hot water but it was stone cold so we could not shower as it was freezing cold. We complained at breakfast about no hot water and were only then told that the reason for this was that they had run out of heating oil for the boiler as it had not been ordered from the supplier. So the tale about having boiler issues was completely untrue and the actual reason was due to the failure of management to order a supply of oil in good time and before it had totally run out. We were angry as had we known the true situation when we arrived, we would have stayed somewhere else that night. In fact, we should have been informed before we arrived and given the option to stay or make alternative arrangements. The whole experience spoilt two days of what was supposed to be a special break away. In future, have respect for your customers and do not lie. Tell the truth if there is an issue so your customers can make an informed decision as to what they want to do. You tell people if you have run out of roast beef for dinner so why did you not tell us about running out of heating oil and that was the real reason the boiler wasn't working?

I was lucky enough to be part of a pre-Christmas festive get-together here on Thursday evening. The food was top notch as usual, and the tables were beautifully decorated. The roaring fire and two huge Christmas trees gave as warm a welcome as the three ladies on duty (Thelma, Megan and Lynnie) who made the whole night an absolute joy.

I stayed here for one night as I was in the West Sussex area with work. The White Hart is a lovely pub with rooms. I stayed in a comfy double room which was across the car park in what looked like a converted storage or stable block. It was on ground level (room 2) and was fabulous, converted to a very high standard with characterful wooden beams etc, and with a lovely bathroom and shower. But what really stood out for me was the service, all staff were so friendly which is really important to me as a woman travelling solo. Nothing was too much trouble. The food at dinner and breakfast was delicious. Breakfast was really varied, with cereals, breads and pastries, fresh fruit, and loads of cooked options. I would definitely go back, and would like to say thank you to everyone at the White Hart for my lovely stay.

The atmosphere is excellent and the pub is a proper country pub. It was busy and we were there for lunch. Staff were friendly and found us a table for 2 near the bar even though they were fully booked. We ordered our food which did take a while to come out, but we appreciate it was busy. Unfortunately, only one meal came out and we had to wait 15 minutes for the next one so my partner sat waiting with the food going cold. I had to ask twice to find out where our food was. Eventually it arrived and we were really pleased - the food was delicious and the portions were very good. The belly of pork was very nice and there were generous amounts of gravy. Unfortunately, no one checked in on us or asked if we wanted to have a dessert - which we did - and ran out of time. Again, I had to ask twice to pay for the bill and we felt forgotten about. Overall, we'd absolutely go back - a really nice pub and the food was excellent! I'd hope next time there would be better service - and a dessert menu for us... Would recommend booking first. Better service and we'd have given 5 stars.

We had lunch booked here for four adults on Friday 10 November at 1pm. The village this pub is in is really lovely and the White Hart seems to be the focal point which compliments the area. We loved the historic and beautiful building. We found the car park tight around the back up the narrow side access. Inside the pub was just picturesque and an absolute delight to be in. The open fire was lite and we loved the atmosphere the exuded from this place. Our table was in the main restaurant area which is reached by ducking under a very low beam. We all had starters, mains & desserts. I had the Prawn/Smoked Salmon starter which was really nice. The only negative was that some of the prawns in the cocktail sauce still had half the shell on them. I have never had a prawn cocktail with some shells still on which came as a shock and I had to be very careful eating this dish. The mains were all superb but I will say the Chicken Colcannon meal £19:00 was quite a small meal. I wish I had opted for our friends choice's of the Haddock & Chips £18:50 and The Steak & Ale pie of the day £16:50 as both of these were absolutely superb and very much enjoyed. The Haddock was literally so big it was having trouble staying on the plate. The two of us who had the Chicken meals enjoyed them but the portion's were like you would get when eating ala carte. All our desserts were lovely and coffee's excellent. We would certainly eat here again but personally I would select either the Fish & Chips or Pie of the day next time. The service from Thelma and her team was excellent and we all had a terrific time. Thank you.

My husband and I have just returned from a 4 night stay. Our room was excellent - clean, roomy, very warm and very well furnished. The staff were really friendly and made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much bother. Will definitely stay here again if we are in that part of the country and will be recommending it to friends and family.

Booked 3 rooms (two family and 1 double) to help facilitate a wedding locally. Beautiful rooms, quite unique and very boutique hotel feel to them and all in a courtyard at the back of the pub. A little patina but very clean and well designed with perfect amenities. Everything added to the ambiance. The pub itself is also lovely. We only had breakfast, which was as good as any we have had away, but arrived on a Sunday while Sunday roast were being made and wished immediately we could stay for dinner. All the staff, from cleaners to bar staff and manager were very friendly and helpful. Apparently this village is situated about the middle of the South Downs Way and walkers and dogs are welcome. Something to remember. My grown children have all asked for us to go back, for no other reason than spending time together in a lovely location, which I think says it all. We will be back.
