Very disappointed as a fellow east grinstead publican to be told we should leave before quiz started as ?perhaps you shouldn?t be here? was statement from barman. ?Would you like us to leave?? Yes was response. Had few quiet drinks with business colleague. Was disgusted, left full drinks on bar. Will not return.

Absolutely love this pub/restaurant. Just on the southern outskirts of East Grinstead, excellent for walks and exploring, the pub is large but nevertheless feels warm and welcoming. Lots of cosy ?nooks? + a lovely large open seating area. The staff are really nice and attentive and the food has always been delicious when we?ve visited. There?s an outdoor space with tables to the front (fenced from the road) as well as a marquee at the back with comfy outdoor furniture, a large TV where sports events are regularly shown + heaters for the colder evenings. Finally, the pub puts on a great calendar of events which, now we?ve actually moved closer, we?ll definitely try to join in on Really recommend this place.
Dietary restrictions: They provide lots of gluten free options and even cater for people with nut allergies
Kid-friendliness: We?ve visited whilst there was a children?s event happening in one of the separate areas (lots of dressing up and balloons around), there?s a bookcase full of kids books to borrow, and also toys. There?s a kids menu and every time we?ve visited there?s been small visitors around too.
Wheelchair accessibility: Although not had to test the facilities ourselves, the pub looks like it would be comfortably able to accommodate wheelchairs - and I believe I?ve seen a sign for disabled facilities

Sat outside for the first time this year. Only had the "Ham, egg & chips" but thats tender, tasty ham and triple cooked chips ! Recommended as a destination for lunch.

Lovely pub. Food is great, all catered for.
Car park can get very full on a weekend.
Pub is very large.
Also has a childrens play frame and area.
River running under the pub , to what would have been the old water mill

Update review
Original review was 5 years ago, unfortunately it seems things have changed since then. We came here yesterday for a family celebration, and the meal was atrocious. As we had 15 of us attending, we were asked to pre order our food, this is a good idea as it ensures everybody gets what they want (you would expect). Our meal was booked for 2:30pm, food arrived at 3.30pm. 5 of us had pre ordered Pork Shoulder, only to be served Pork Belly. This was challenged and we were fined off that this was the pork on today, not what we had pre ordered! To add to the insult, the Pork Belly contained no meat, its was pure fat through the cut. Add to this the portion size was small and not special in anyway. This gathering was for my mums 92nd birthday and to be honest was a disaster, real shame for her. The manager did reverse out the Pork Belly costs from the bill, but damage done and I don?t think we will return here next year.

Came here for Sunday lunch with the family to celebrate my mums birthday. It a lovely setting with a traditional old pub style. The menu is very good and the size of the portions are very generous. The Sunday roast is really nice with the large mix of three carved meats the best choice. Service is very good, with friendly and helpful servers. Excellent place and highly recommend.

We simply had the best party night for my husband?s birthday, thanks to Lisa and her amazing team. We literally just had to turn up and party, Lisa had everything so professionally organised: food, drinks, disco, decorations. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
Thank you Lisa and all of you, for making it a night we will always remember as being just brilliant.

Love this place, staff polite and friendly and lovely and relaxing. I have to say if you're local and don't pop in here, you really have missed a gem. The food is great, the staff as I have said are great but to actually take the time and chat to you which in today's world is rare. They engage and give advice, and they also actually care!
Dietary restrictions: If you have these, they are great at accommodating them.
Kid-friendliness: Good selection of kids food and even something for a very fussy eater....
Wheelchair accessibility: Yes the access here for wheelchairs is very good

We stopped for lunch after a nice country walk.
The service was great, the pub was such a unique space, really quirky with great atmosphere.
The food was really delicious and enjoyed every dish we had. They were even able to cater for my food intolerances so I can still have a really good meal.
