What a joke of a bank - I have been ringing constantly for 2 days to stop an account of a deceased relative. They just do not answer the phone. It cuts off after 6 minutes and then you have to do it all again!!PS: At 16:23 on the second day the phone was answered!!PPS: Dan thinks a 2 day wait is a good thing? Just for clarity, I was ringing the branch NOT the other number on the website.

My former bank. Always friendly staff, there's only two teller windows and no pay-in machines so you do have to wait some times. They do their best to triage people in the queue who don't need to be in the queue to their credit. The reason I switched banks is because the core concept of the Co-op is not being like other banks, doing a lot of community work and ultimately acting more ethically. They hired a non-expert, in fact someone from outside the banking profession as a CEO - it didn't go well. They endangered the stability of the bank by trying to buy hundreds of new branches (its a tiny bank - where did they get that money from? Debt. In uncertain times, that's probably not a good idea. I don't want to wake up to a co-op localised banking crisis due to mismanagement). And they broke their ethical policy. I believe there should be some penalty for companies acting so irresponsibly and breaking such promises, so I left. It's a shame really, they do put a lot of money into community projects, however when the board hired such a man as CEO, even though he's been removed, the board haven't. What's to stop similar things happening again?
