I took my car here for an MOT in October 2023 and ended up paying over £600, for new brake pads all round, a ?brand new? tyre (which ended up being worn down within a matter of months, despite only driving to and from work and doing no more than 8,000 miles a year) and wipers. Within just over a year (October 23 - January 25) my brake pads were all metal to metal. This caused a constant screech on my tyres which I was advised by Halfords is ?normal? as I need to ?wear them in?. The noise never stopped until the other day. I didn?t realise how dangerous they had left my car until taking it to another garage. My new garage had to repair the clutch, supply brake fluid as Halfords had neglected this during the MOT, replace my rear brake pads, as well as some other minor things. All in all at my new garage I paid £1100 including labour and a brand new clutch, new wing mirror as well as everything else. Brake pads are supposed to last you 30K miles or 3 years, especially rear brake pads, these lasted all of 8,000 miles.
Absolutely disgusting how they overcharge and speak to women at this garage, and how they think they can get away with charging full price for ?brand new? parts which had I not have had to go to a new garage I?d of not known how dangerous they?d left my car and how they?d fitted used brake pads to my vehicle. Avoid if possible, there are plenty of garages in Walsall in this area. I?ve heard many other horror stories regarding how they speak/treat women in this garage, and their ridiculous prices for sub-par work and products all because of the brand name ?Halfords?.One Stop Auto on Bridgeman Street has been a life saver (literally)!!!

Do not take ur car to place, unless you want to pay 4 times the price. If you go in for a simple job, url be paying for other stuff they tell you needs doing. They need to be on bbc rogue traders, halfords is a massive company, let down by these crooks

Halfords is a total scam company. I would strongly urge people to avoid going to Halfords for any work needed at all. I went for a free 5 point car check. An oil leak was identified, which they advised needed repairing urgently. They quoted £70.44 to renew the oil pressure sensor, £134.99 for oil & filter service, £30 for fuel efficiency pack, £3 consumable fee coming to a total of £238.43. I didn't have time to get any work done that day, nor was I going to fork out that much money for that kind of work. When I explained I am taking my car without the work, Mohammed pressured and pressured me to get the work done by them that day. They didn't have my car keys ready to give me when I returned to pick up the car, they presumed I would buckle and pay an extortionate amount of money. After taking the car to Halfords, the car started to give a burning smell when driving, which it had not done before the 5 point check. I took the car to an honest garage recommended by friends, TRINITY MOT CENTRE LTD. They charged me £10 for the oil pressure sensor and £20 for the oil & filter service. A total of £30 vs £238.43. Nothing in life comes for free, and all of these 'free checks' Halfords offer are designed to find/create minor faults in your car and generate a lot of revenue for the company. Do not fall for these traps. Find an honest, decent, personable local garage who you can trust.
On previous visits to Halfords, when I was part of the premium motoring club and had certain benefit such a free fitting for new window wipers or £10 off welcome voucher, these benefits would not be deducted from the total amount despite me asking beforehand. When I tried to cancel the auto-renewal for the premium motor club, it was virtually impossible to do online, the company makes it extremely difficult. I had to sift through a lot of writing in the terms and conditions to find a number. Even after I called and cancelled with the correct notice period, I was still charged the £49. I had to call again and get it refunded. They are a very dishonest and money grabbing company. Please avoid, don't get involved with Halfords and avoid the hassle and unnecessary costs.

Recently had an MOT with these guys. Car failed the MOT and the quoted me £850 to do the essential repairs (not the advisories)I went home and google checked the price on the parts which were coming up at around £40 a piece. I then called the local garages and got a quote back at £295 all in parts and labour. Where did Halfords get there additional £550 mark up from? I booked in with the local garage who also undertook an MOT for me on the same day. The advisories that were picked up by Halfords Walsall were not picked up by the local garage?I also had an MOT with this same garage the year before and it passed with some advisories on break wear. I undertook no works on the car during the course of the year but these were not picked up again when having my MOT done by Halfords? they must have fixed themselves.I would never use this garage again and would not recommend them to anyone. Steer clear
