First time eating here, when we got to the front door there was a sign saying certain items were not available and the list was quite long. We noticed a mobile fridge unit out the front, so maybe something broken down in the kitchen, but we went in anyway. The place wasn't busy. We were asked for drinks order very quickly and they came quick as well. The problems started with the food. The starters were delivered in a reasonable timeframe but our mains took almost an hour to turn up after the starter. What made it worse was we could see our food on the hotplate for over 30 mins. My fillet steak was well done and chewy. So after one bite I complained politely and the waitress was very apologetic and a replacement turned up later. My other family members were happy their food. There was no indication of what the trouble might be, and it was the length of wait (with an special needs youngster in the party especially upset with the wait). As mentioned our waitress was nice and polite, but we could not understand the delay, which put a downer on the meal. More upfront honesty would have been better I feel. I had expected better from a Beefeater.

After looking online to see it wasn't busy we turned up without booking to be greeted with a rude and abrupt member of staff who asked for our booking number who then constantly shook her head when told we didn't have one to tell us that we had to leave by 9am giving us 30min for us to dine I glad to say I won't ever go bk to this place

We booked a table and visited the Badgers Set on Monday 23rd December at lunchtime. We were given the main menu as the lunchtime menu was not available which was not advised at the time of booking. When we were given the main menu we were also given an extensive list of items that weren't available which included over 3/4 of the puddings on the menu and few starters and a couple of main courses. When we went to order it was explained that there was a problem with the supply of certain items and the had to get ingredients from Tesco and Makro. One of the missing items was triple cooked chips which we found surprising as how can you be out of triple cooked chips! Surely a chef can cook a potato 3 times. The meal itself was ok though one meal was really inedible and was expensive as we were expecting a cheaper lunchtime menu.
The atmosphere seemed flat with a few people eating but the place needs a bit of a makeover as some seats needed repairing and the lighting in the restaurant could be better.
Overall not the best and having been in the past it was nowhere near our expectations.
Kid-friendliness: There are activities sheets and wax crayons available for children and a children's menu.

We had such a lovely Christmas Eve meal here tonight. Our servers were lovely despite having to work the Xmas Eve shift and we had three courses that were all amazing. All steaks were cooked to perfection and we made some awesome family memories. Thank you all and Merry Christmas, you certainly made ours awesome ??

Parking: We have been coming here for years with our autistic son when we visit him and it has never been great, it's been OK but the staff had gotten to know us over the years but this last visit will be the last time we come to the badgers sett. 5 meals ordered, 3 were wrong and 2 had missing items. This was after having to look through a large list of handwritten items that weren't available. Of which brandy sauce for the Xmas pudding, what chef, in a pub, can't knock up a brandy sauce? Or peppercorn sauce? So after deciding from a very limited selection they still got it wrong.
Drinks take an absolute age to come out, this has always been the same so I order the free refills well in advance if needing them so they arrive as we finish the last one but even they took forever on this visit.
I am truly surprised that this place can still exist and I guess innit wasn't for the hotel on site they would not be here. Sunday lunch service the weekend before Xmas and 4 other tables were present, the place should be rammed. Staff seem to disappear completely for long periods of time.
It would have been nice to be told about supply issues before we turned up, they do have customer contact details.
Sad to say but this is the end of the badgers sett for us. I'll try the orchard next time and see how that works out in the future

We went with our toddler for breakfast. We are always nervous going out with little one. But dani made us all feel so welcome. She served us quickly and engaged with our toddler. She made us feel at ease. And brian cooked a great breakfast.

A nice meal, steak was cooked exactly as ordered.

Everything was edible. However the steak was well done when medium was requested. The spare ribs dry. Chicken dry. However the fourth member of our party had a burger and apparently that was good.

Its attached to Premier Inn, booked a table for evening after driving 3 hrs to get there to be told no tables...the attitude was terrible. We ate in bar, food was OK.
However in contrast, the breakfast staff were fab, good breakfast too. Just if visiting the area again, we'd plan somewhere else to eat in the evening.

Booking we made was not on the system so they ' found'a table in a corner for us. Waiting staff were untrained and forgot items. My meal was overcooked to the point of inediblity and could not be replaced as it was the 'last' one, a salmon steak.
