This is pretty much your average WHSmith, which you'll find on pretty much every high street of every town or city in the UK, it is located in the Mell Square area of Solihull town centre, a short walk away from Touchwood The store does close fairly early, closing at 17:30 during the week, so it is one of the first shops in town to shut for the day, it would be nice to see them open until at least 18:00, which in my opinion is still early to close, but at least this is in line with the majority of other shops nearby, such as Boots next store and the Touchwood Shopping Centre. The store is a reasonable size and includes a Post Office, gone are the days of the gross old-fashioned carpet, and in comes a hard wooden floor, with the store looking much fresher since the refurb. The store had a reasonable selection, mainly in terms of stationery, cards and other miscellaneous type items you'd expect to find, I would say I was unimpressed by the fridge section however, with the choice of drinks very minimal. Boots next store had both lower prices and more choices! 3* - OK, pretty much filling the average quota that WHSmith must be on every high street, nothing too exciting or special, but far from awful.

This isn't the best WH Smiths I've ever been in. It feels like they try to cram to much stuff on the shop floor. The cueing system is laughable as they have only one line for counter and shelf service, which can equal to very long wait times. It's only shaving grace is that all the staff are pleasant and happy to help.

I got really fed up with this store before Christmas and its annuals for 2009 on buy one get one free offer one day then buy one get one half price offer the next day. There seemed to be no reason for the constant chage of signs and I one day when it was on half price I spotted several annuals on buy one get one free offer and bought 2 and the staff were not happy and willing to give it to me for what the sticker said until I reminded them it was against the law to have something advertised and priced lower than they were going to charge me. They did give it to me for 2 for 1 after that. I am usually a big fan of WHSmith but after this also noticed that some vouchers I had via email for signing up to the website were not as easy to use as you would think. Spend £10 on books and get £5 off, it did not state adult or kids books but for some reason when buying kids books with it they said it could only be used for adults books?!

2 floors with childrens books, books and music and dvd found on the first floor. Papers magazines CHristmas gifts cards stationery on the ground floor. The staff are helpful and even when there is a big queue they seem to serve people quickly. You can also get your national lottery tickets here on the ground floor tills. They always have offers on the books and last week I got some newly released books as Christmas gifts for half price and some childrens books for buy one get one half price. Escalators going up but none to come down again

Great store - huge range of items on sale, with seasonal goodies in stock. It always has out of season stock on sale (usually at heart breaking prices if you've bought it 'in season') Staff are friendly and attentive, and are willing to check whats in the storeroom or order in something for you.
