This is pretty much your average WHSmith, which you'll find on pretty much every high street of every town or city in the UK, it is located in the Mell Square area of Solihull town centre, a short walk away from Touchwood The store does close fairly early, closing at 17:30 during the week, so it is one of the first shops in town to shut for the day, it would be nice to see them open until at least 18:00, which in my opinion is still early to close, but at least this is in line with the majority of other shops nearby, such as Boots next store and the Touchwood Shopping Centre. The store is a reasonable size and includes a Post Office, gone are the days of the gross old-fashioned carpet, and in comes a hard wooden floor, with the store looking much fresher since the refurb. The store had a reasonable selection, mainly in terms of stationery, cards and other miscellaneous type items you'd expect to find, I would say I was unimpressed by the fridge section however, with the choice of drinks very minimal. Boots next store had both lower prices and more choices!3* - OK, pretty much filling the average quota that WHSmith must be on every high street, nothing too exciting or special, but far from awful.

Been to going to WH Smith in Mell Square for years. Now has Post Office and a Toys R Us. Self service tills on ground floor close to the magazine's and newspapers.

I find that the quality of the stores varies considerably . The branch in Solihull is well stocked and is well presented but other stores are less attractive

Good stock, and fairly tidy and easy to find what you need, but it's 60% more expensive than Amazon... And high streets wonder why they are struggling

Went to use the post office today. It is located upstairs. Very friendly staff on the counters. They also have self service checkouts and post box for letters and parcels. WH Smith has a lot of great items also.

Popped in to get papers there was a lady emptying the shelves and counting how many they had . I asked if there was any Mails left and she said no . When I looked at the papers stacked I could see them so I pointed them out and she clearly just couldn't be bothered to look . The other assistant got them for me I thought she may have apologised but no . Just plain rude !

Went to the post office this morning and there were three members of staff one of them serving at the automated till. One was sat in foreign currency and did not have any customers. Third one more sat at the main counter and allowed a customer to spend 15-minutes filling out a DVLA licence form instead of asking her to stand to one side to fill it out. To customers including myself were both waiting to just do a very quick Amazon return. The one behind the counter refuse to help us and said that her colleague would help. I said that the colleague said that she was unable to help. They were in extremely inefficient and did not care about the customers that had been kept waiting whilst the lady filled out a 15-minute application form. Today is the 19th of June and it was the lady who was serving at 10:30 a.m. this morning that is a complete waste of space.
