we had a home visit for my husband arranged for next week .Today I had a phone call from the home visit team ,to say that as my husband had already had his eyes tested that they would not be keeping the appointment .I had arranged the visit so that my husband could be fitted with new spectacles after two cataract operations .when contacting the shop in Newcastle I was asked if I could bring my husband on a Sunday as then my family would not have to arran ge time off work to help me get him to the shop.My husband IS housebound and can only make outdoor appointments with a lot of help from family and a lot of pain for him .Dont believe all the promises and hype that Specsavers put out ,Idont thin k that its always true .I am very unhappy about this treatment ,we have spent a lot of money with this company over the years and will consider finding another opticians for future needs.

Avoid. Contacted them in early July 2023. Appointment arranged for late September! Cancelled by them, later claiming I'd had double cataract operation; rubbish; no operation of any sort. Glasses arrived 12. 29. 2023. Not good. 28.2.24 now and no-one has called as promised to check them. 8 months waiting!! They never phone. Appalling.

Please do not waste your money on these people they scam the vulnerable! Waited 6 weeks and phoned the last 3 weeks to then be told they?re out of stock! Not even an apology from these pathetic people. They?re sick for taking advantage of the vulnerable.

Specsavers are the worst home visit people i usually go to the shopThey just wanted to get away because they seem more interested the money they were going to get i found a problem with them and was told if they could not fined a problem even thogh i explained to them that the glass had fallen out if i could not produce the glass i would have to pay between 50 pounds to one hundred that is dreadful and i hope somebody reads this review and cancels their appointment

From start to finish specsavers home visits have been absolutely fantastic, caring, kind, understanding and helpful. Every member of staff from people on the phone to the people that came to my home they all were lovely. Thank you all so much!

They turned up as planned, but there was no contact between SpecSavers and myself after making an appointment for my Mum. They did however contact the care home where she lives, who in turn informed me when Specsavers staff had left. This was a bit disappointing, as I needed to be present as an advocate for my Mum, and due to the fact that she is visually impaired and a patient of an eye clinic.

I have unfortunately been unable to leave the house for a number of years, and as such haven't visited an optician in some time. I am lucky enough to be able to work from home.I called Specsavers who were originally quite helpful in arranging an appointment, however that was the last good experience. Some 4 weeks later the day of the appointment comes and I receive a phone call to tell me they can't get to me at all as the person recording my details recorded them wrong and placed me in the wrong county entirely.I was then told to wait another two weeks and that I would receive a phone call early in the morning to tell me what my appointment time is that morning. I waited until 11am with no phone call, so I called to ask what my slot was.The agent was rude and abrasive from the start. "It's still the morning, that's why we haven't called you" she said. The agent huffed when I didn't accept this excuse and asked for my position in the queue. The agent resisted and said that it doesn't mean anything because it doesn't account for traffic. Again, not wanting to sit around all day watching the front door I asked for my position in the queue. I was told I was number four, and that each appointment slot was for an hour starting at 10am.A quick bit of primary school level maths would determine that four 1-hour slots starting at 10am would never be a morning appointment, and now I need to take time away from my work to accommodate a possible 1pm-or-later "morning" appointment.I asked for their complaints procedure and the agent decided to become even more adversarial and rude, all the while trying to dissuade me from lodging a complaint. Eventually she said I'd receive a call back from a manager within 7 days. I have no faith that I will receive this call back.

Tried this service but they can't say what time the person will be turning up until 24 hours before, which in this day in age when computers can take bookings is really strange. Checking the reviews tho looks like Home visits is underfunded and doesn't work so I guess it's better I try a different opticians, one that provides a way for disabled people to be seen that isn't up stairs.

Great set up eye test without fuss, BUTSold an 81 year old who just sits watching TV a £200 pair of Timberland that aren't the best fit and had to take to a specsaver shop for them to tighten them.No offers on a 2nd pair like in a shop

I booked a home visit appointment for my mother in law 3 weeks in advance for my mother in law. I asked for an email and/ or letter confirmation of the appointment and was advised one would be sent out. Nothing was received. On the day of the appointment, there was no contact throughout the day. I had to ring them in the afternoon to check the time the optician would arrive and was informed she would be 1 hour. I then received a voicemail n the late afternoon stating that the optician would not be attending, as she had ran behind on her appointments in the day. Absolutely pathetic excuse, I wasted a whole day waiting for the optician to arrive and had booked a day off from work to be home for my mother in law. I was then promised a priority appointment, which was just under 2 weeks away. Will never use specsavers home visit or in store. Disgraceful.

What a disappointment! Booked the appointment for our autistic son a month in advance to allow plenty of time should the appointment need to be changed. Our Son?s appointment was between 3 and 5 pm. His carer rang me at 5pm to tell me that the optician had not arrived yet. I was out shopping at the time when I arrived home. There was a message left at 5:13 pm from Specsavers telling me that the opticianhad run out of time and offered me another appointment for three weeks later! I returned the call when I got home at 5:18 pm. Nobody was there to take my call. Specsavers was made aware in advance that our son has autism, special-needs, and he?s registered blind, I also made them aware that going to the shop for his eye test was too stressful for him and his carer, so it wasn?t as if they wasn?t aware! Well done Specsavers you quite obviously look after your special-needs customers you had more than enough time to ring to say that you would not be attending the appointment I could of told my sons carer the appointment had been cancelled! I would?ve left a review with no stars. If possible. I have requested a callback from the manager first thing tomorrow morning. I really hope this happens because this is not the kind of service that we expect from Specsavers.

Appalling experience. Please don't use this service. Do whatever you need to do to get your elderly family/friends to a proper optician. Now at week 12, and I have taken my Mum to Boots Opticians who will have a pair of specs for her in 7-10 days. SpecSavers tested Mum's eyes, and gave her 2 pairs of glasses (total time 10 weeks of booking appt, getting test, getting glasses) and £350. The glasses didn't work for Mum from the get go - she was told to 'persevere'. After 2 weeks I demanded they come back to check and I was told 'her prescription has changed since the original test'. What utter rubbish.

Pity I didn?t read reviews of home visits before I arranged a visit.1st visit?-4pm phone call which cancelled as too busy to come. New appointment 10 days later.2nd visit? Arrived but printer not working so no prescription or receipt for card payment. Promised to send it.3rd visit ?-to bring glasses but still no paper work. Promised to post it.4 ? Arrange visit to adjust fit and bring paper work.Date and time of appointment, 9-.12am.12.30 phoned office to enquire why no-one had arrived..Held the line waiting then cut off. Phoned again and repeated my details and eventually told optician was stuck in traffic. Asked for paperwork.Optician arrived but said I wasn?t on her list as the office had sent her to the wrong lady. What is going on at this office? Eventually got the paperwork though as she printed them out. Finally??Nowhere in the advertisement did I see that you paid £25 for the home visit.

Absolutely dreadful, total lack of communication, have waited 5 weeks to have them properly fitted, keep falling of my face, sask a manager if they fall ofg and break would they replace them, SILENCE. Still wait for a fitting. Not recommending to anyone.

Booked a home visit weeks ago for my father who has Alzheimer's. Had a call on Wednesday to confirm the appointment and they advised the optician would be visiting between 2-5 pm Friday and someone would call on the day to let us know they were on their way. Took time off work and cancelled my own appointment as it clashed with the window of time given. Waited in all afternoon, called at 4.20pm to see when they were going to be arriving. Lady at Specsavers Home Visit Team called back just after 4.30pm and told me they would have to cancel the appointment today as they had run out of time! Apparently they had 2 other visits to also cancel. Next available appointment not until the end of the month but working until 4pm that day and couldn't guarantee the time, but would note back end of the day. I asked if the appointment could be cancelled again and was told no because a note would be put next to my father's name to state do not cancel as he is a rescheduled appointment. Basically, this happens all the time hence the previously cancelled note function in place. This is a service for vulnerable people most of which as was highlighted to me by the lady from Specsavers require a family member/carer to be present to assist, so why therefore do they overbook appointments and continue to have a system in place for this? Not at all acceptable and absolutely terrible uncaring service. They are not providing for the vulnerable with this system and causing a lot of stress and upset for the patient and the carers/family members assisting them. They should not be allowed to operate in this way and should have their NHS contract removed. Shouldn't have gone to Specsavers!
