We stayed here on a coach trip. Real value for money. The staff stayed cheerful, special mention to Kyle who joked with us and kept the bacon filed up, despite being very busy. They ran out of an item on the menu but substituted and there was plenty to eat, buffet style. The reception staff were also helpful. Showers were hot a and room was clean. It is in the middle of Coventry so has easy access to tourist spots and shops but some rooms, not ours, could hear revellers in the street if they kept their windows open. If you want a quiet night remember to ask the staff when booking. Would stay again.Rooms: Clean and with drawers wardrobe, chairs, comfortable beds and spare pillow and blankets. TV. Decent size ensuite bathroom with bath/shower. Tea/coffee/kettle, iron and ironing board, hairdryer. Plenty of plugs.Food & drinks: Canteen style but plentiful

If your a woman travelling solo, don?t book here! I booked a room for one night. The man at reception gave me my key card and I went to my room. Roughly 10 mins later, I hear people outside my door trying to get it open. Then, a man begins to walk in and I shouted ?i think you have the wrong room?. I was very scared. After he left, the male receptionist comes up and asks my for keycard and ID. Turns out he gave me the wrong keycard (room 723) and also gave the same keycard to another passenger. This took 20 minutes to resolve. I heard him talking to the other passengers telling them its my fault and I ?took the wrong card?, despite him giving me the card to begin with. He then wanted me to switch rooms, but the passenger didn?t want to since I?d already used the facilities in my room. This is not ok. As a woman travelling solo, I shouldn?t have random men (the passenger) walking into my room. It?s not safe and anything could?ve happened to me all because the receptionist made a mistake. This was very stressful and scary and I Was hoping for some sort of compensation for this, a partial refund, breakfast etc but got nothing, not even an apology. I?m hoping I can get something for this.

Has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We booked but did not arrive until 1am in the morning to be greeted by Five door man bouncers that were condescending and told us if we did not have photo ID for me and my misses we would not be allowed to stay. We received a email off the hotel at 5.30am informing us of this requirement of which was far to late and had to get a taxi just to get ID out of the carIt was full of refugees and this is why the security was so heavy. I would never go there again. Do not go to this hotel it is not safe to stay or be in.

Britannia is usually at the top end of budget hotels, but this one really does let the side down. Grey, drab, and in desperate need for a refurb. It was clearly plush back in the 80s, but not now.Staff at check in very matter of fact and obviously deal with complaints all day. Location is central and ideal for spotting local hoodies and crack heads. This means using an intercom to gain entry from early evening. Security guards on too, but wouldn't recommend for families. To be fair it was quiet and fairly comfy overnight, but rooms are dated and tired with stains in the bathroom. Curtains hanging off and ripped, empty whiskey bottle in back of wardrobe. No parking either, nearest is a good 10min walk away and £8-10 for overnight parking (mostly under the ring road so no good for LWB vans, etc). Was a good location for my trip, just disappointing from the Britannia brand.

This is the first time I've seen such a bad hotel and it really shocked me.I arrived at the hotel at 11pm and provided id information when checking in. There were a total of about three people on duty during the night, but only one window was taking guests. At check in one of the clerks asked me for my Id, then he searched round and gave it back to me. Then there was another employee with a mobile phone taking a video and he actually asked me to show my id again, it was all very funny. I just had to co-operate with them to get the job done which was really bad.The worse was yet to come, after about 10 minutes of waiting they asked me to pay. I enquired what kind of money they were asking for and was not given a clear reply, and soon suddenly I was asked to pay again, this time I was clearly told it was for one night's room. In fact I had already successfully made the payment on Agoda, I informed them about it and they still asked me to pay. I was shocked and again told to pay and showed proof of payment. Then I waited for more than 40 minutes for the matter to be resolved with their slow and unreasonable work. During this time I received no apology and no compensation. This is really unconscionable.I then got my room card about an hour later. But I found that the room card did not work at all. I then went downstairs and asked for a replacement card. After waiting in the queue for 20 minutes, the receptionist informed me that it was my operation. This is really funny. Then I asked them to replace the room card problem was solved. After checking into the room, the room looked neat and tidy but the hygiene condition was actually very poor. The sink was in a state of disrepair and it was all different colours in it which was disgusting. There was also waste paper in the toilet that hadn't been flushed ???? The hygiene of the bedding was also terrible, and in the early hours of the night there was an allergic reaction with a rash on my body ?????It was a really memorable experience for me!Rooms: the room looked neat and tidy but the hygiene condition was actually very poor. The rooms were spacious and tidy.. the only thing that confused me was that there was no booking option at the reception.. you have to book the room online and then only you'll get the roomWalkability: The hotel itself is situated in the city centre and everything is at the walking distance

Having read some of the reviews of this hotel, I was wondering what it would be like, but my room was beautifully clean and spacious, and I even had a balcony looking out onto the Cathedral and towards the spires of the old cathedral and Holy Trinity church. The breakfasts were very good with lots of choice , though the coffee machine coffee was rather too strong and bitter for my taste. The hotel does not look beautiful from the outside, but is very well placed for visiting the Cathedral and city centre, and is very good value for money. I would certainly stay there again.

Security guards were friendly, thats the only good thing.Upon checking in, the girl behind the desk struggled to get our booking up. Then she whispered to her colleague that they had no rooms, and we had booked a double room for two adults WEEKS prior. They then said they had to just change our room, which was into a family room with four single beds (which she didn't tell us).We complained and magically they found a double room. The room was filthy, outdated, with a horrible damp smell and holes in the bathroom door. The tissue box had tissues just thrown in there, assumably from the floor or a cheaper brand. For almost £200 for a few nights, absolutely horrendous and not worth it at all. We checked out and requested a refund, which the (assumed owner, unsure though, an indian man ) argued about until a younger member of staff butted in and just gave us the refund. Had to find another place for the night.Horrible and rude staff, disgusting rooms and overpriced. AVOID
