I rang to get an eye health check after getting distorted vision and after questions that eliminated an immediate emergency I was given an appointment the next day. The staff are very courteous and efficient and I was made to feel comfortable and efficiently had various tests which thankfully was explained to me the possible reasons for this. My eyes were apparently slightly dry and I was offered the option of a variety of eye drops if I so chose. I would recommend this service to others.

I bought two pairs of glasses and my order was clearly very simple one to be for home use and I do not need anti glare or reflect and the second to be with anti glare and reflect to be used while driving. I got them then went abroad to get shocked with the discovery that the one for driving has no reflect at all. I went to talk to them and I found out that they made them both anti glare and to make one reflect I have to pay £75 : paid for anti glare which not needed on one for no reason.
Any customer goes there should check every single thing by himself/ herself to avoid paying for things not needed.

My 6 year old granddaughter went into the Northfield branch today to get some frames. She has special needs and with her sensory issues doesn't cope well with shops. I explained this when I went into the shop as I already had my prescription from Birmingham Children?s Hospital Eye Department. My granddaughter chose 2 pairs of frames as we we're willing to pay for one. I took the frames to the desk and the assistant behind the desk said she would need to take a measurement. I told her that everything she needed would be written down on the prescription as the ophthalmologist knew how distressed my granddaughter got. Despite having all this information Specsavers proceeded to try and take a measurement which my granddaughter became very distressed. The optician looked at me and said what shall I do? I told her that she is meant to be the professional not me. She guessed the measurement. I asked the assistant if I would be able to collect the glasses myself as my granddaughter wouldn't be able to try them on upon collection. The assistant replied that it us a legal requirement for the patient to try on the glasses. I told her that I had been to another opticians with frames supplied by Birmingham Children?s Hospital and that optician had fitted the lenses without seeing her as they knew the extreme distress. Also I had been to another optician today who from my granddaughters distress in the shop said that they could do her glasses and I could just collect them without them seeing her to fit them. So at Specsavers I asked could I buy the frames and take them to the other opticians who I knew would put the lenses in them without having to see my granddaughter. The assistant said NO, we weren't allowed to buy them. We asked why and she said she couldn't sell them as they're prescription frames. We then asked to speak to the manager. We explained everything to her and she said we could (despite what the assistant told us) buy frames. So around £120 later we paid for the frames. I find it a shame that Specsavers cannot accommodate a 6 year old child with special needs. We didn't mind paying for one frame as a spare but to have to pay for 2 is ridiculous. Now we will have to take the frames back to the optician who kindly agreed to take into account our granddaughters additional needs and accommodate her. It will however cost us for the one pair of lenses as the other is covered by her prescription. I will never go into Specsavers again.

PRESSURE SELLING OF GIMMICKS
On the last 3 separate times of visiting the northfield branch I have been witness to pressure selling from the front counter members of staff.
With Bi focal lenses, I myself feel I have been pressured to have a more expensive lens than what was actually needed, also to then hear the manager congratulate the member of staff who sold them to me for not having the basic lens, left a sour taste in my mouth.
We have been sold stage 2 thinning of the lenses for my son which then arrived thicker than the stage 1 thinning he already had so in our opinion a total waste of £100.
Having sat in there today an really not believing my ears when hearing the manager state ?get her to try these kylie glasses they are more expensive? and literally pushing the member of staff towards the lady customer.
I believe this place to be all about the profit it can make rather than what the customer needs and would like.
The receipts at this shop an explanation of what is actually needed is not clear at all.
Myself and my family will not be going here again.
