After complacently and discriminatory city council officer in West Midlands refused to provide adequate housing for a homeless British citizen. He had referred me to Smartmove. Instead of being housed in a flat, was housed in HMO (Home Multiple Occupancy) accommodation were all tenants past and present life associated with drugs, alcohol, committed various offences including: stabbing, shoplifting, car theft, property land registry theft, stalking, harassment, intimidation snd ASB (Anti Social Behaviour). I was moved to three HMO due to ongoing harassment, intimidation, bully, assault, my food and kitchen utensils were stolen coupled with narcissistic ASB including loud music, noise, talking and disturbances every night for the past 9 months. They have refused to make any timely repairs, made my life a hell on the earth, covered up a perpetrator who had assaulted me. Instead reporting him to the police. Smartmove are good at sorting out benefits but it's mainly a profit making organisation relying on milking the British taxpayers and the housing benefit. Their support workers did whatever they could. The support was provided a bare minimum. They have taken me full granted rather provided a flat for me. One tenant was housed after making complaints was offered a flat because he is the same as their race. Only lived in HMO for a month. 9 months had added more mental, emotional,
Physical and financial devastating impacts.

The management team is always quick to respond to any questions or maintenance requests, and they keep the property in excellent condition. Everything is well-maintained, clean, and taken care of promptly. It?s clear that they take pride in providing quality service and a comfortable living environment. Highly recommended for anyone looking for reliable management and a well-kept property

What really impressed me though was how responsive the management is. Our fridge broke down one morning, and they sent someone over the same day with a brand-new, massive fridge and even got the old one repaired too. So now we?ve got two fridges ? total win for everyone in the house!
It?s those little things that make a big difference. They really take care of the place and make sure we?re comfortable.

From the very first day I walked into the office, I was treated with kindness, respect, and dignity. At a time when I was going through a very difficult period in my life ? recovering from alcohol addiction ? the team made me feel truly supported and understood. They didn?t just see me as a tenant; they saw me as a person who was trying to rebuild their life.
I especially want to mention Safina, my support worker. Her advice, understanding, and counselling have been absolutely invaluable. She has a deep awareness of the cultural and religious challenges that can come with recovery, especially for someone from a Muslim and Pakistani background. Having someone who understood those sensitivities made such a difference ? it felt like I could finally talk openly without fear of being judged.
The housing company went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed to get back on my feet. They always treated me with compassion, kept things professional, and made me feel like I was part of a community that genuinely cares.
I?m incredibly grateful for everything they?ve done to help me through recovery and towards stability. I truly couldn?t have asked for a better place ? or a better team ? to support me on this journey.

I moved in a little while ago and honestly couldn?t be happier. The place was super clean when I arrived, and the whole move-in process was really easy. The management is friendly and quick to respond if anything comes up, which I really appreciate.
My housemates are great ? everyone?s respectful and easygoing, and it feels more like a little community than just shared housing. The common areas are always tidy, and it?s nice not having to worry about bills since everything?s included.
The location is super convenient too ? close to shops, public transport, and some good food spots. Overall, it?s been a really positive experience and I?d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, stress-free place to live.

Housed very quickly. But if there is a problem in the property and it is not filed as urgent. Can be waiting weeks for basic amenities to be restored. Was without fridge and washing machine for weeks. Had no hot water for a number of days before it was fixed. Lack of staff due to cuts. The best part of the experience was the manager he is a very nice man.

Key works should not come out to see tenants after work hours it's no right smartmove should stop this immediately

Reason I gave one star is that even though smartmove did help us move to a 1 bed flat from a shared house. The issue is when something needs fixing they say they are getting maintaince team but it can take days for maintaince to turn up. We are waiting for our boiler to be checked and fixed as we have no hot water for us to shower in we have been showering in cold water for a week. One guy turned up and told us to turn button and that would work. We tried that and now it still doesn't work. We even told our support worker he said he was getting someone from office to get maintance. They never turned up we called the office they didn't answer. We called our support worker again all he could say was there's nothing he can do. So looks like it's going to be a Christmas where we will catch a cold by taking cold showers. We are not happy at all and pay £100 a month to them.
Apart from maintance issue everything is OK. We feel lucky though as we did get housed.

Absolute waste of time! Messed me around for the best part of 2 weeks. Hardly ever answer the phone when you call?and when they do answer, they just want to fob you off. Taking messages that just don?t reach the intended person. They act like they care about you and your welfare, when in reality, they couldn?t give a rat?s tooey! I?ve left 8 messages for Aman over the past week?and he still hasn?t called me back. They send you text message after text message, asking you to call them?and when you call, they don?t answer! Why not just call me, instead of texting? You have the phone in your hand! The referrers make promises that they can?t keep?and when you call them out on it, they get nasty! They become very unprofessional and start talking to you like you?re something on the bottom of their shoe. Luckily, there?s plenty of other options for supported housing in Birmingham, because if Smartmove were the only choice, we?d all be dead! If this is how you treat vulnerable people, in need of housing and support, you?re in the wrong business. They?re all clueless. To be honest, they should be investigated by the necessary bodies, because their practices are unethical?and I wouldn?t be surprised if they were breaching some form of law. Bunch of clowns.
