I have nothing but good things to say about my experience with Optical express. Walking in as someone with very limited knowledge of lazer eye surgery, the team here made sure i was well informed and looked after from my very first consultation all the way through to my post surgery check ups. My vision is better than i ever could?ve imagined and i can?t recommend them enough.

Absolutely dreadful service.
6 weeks on I am still awaiting a standard pair of glasses for VDU work.
Had an eve test and was told 2 weeks for the glasses to arrive. Went back after the 2 weeks only to find they got the prescription wrong. I was told they would get them rectified promptly and I would get a call the next day to confirm everything was being done. I didnt receive a call but went back after 10 days to find the old glasses still sitting in their drawer with no action done. Was seen then by a lady who I think may have been the manager. Who got my prescription re done after a quick check by optician and said she would get them done urgently. 10 days later I go back in to find no glasses and no update as to where they are or how long they will take.
Was promised an a call to update me. But I won't hold my breath.

All staff are very welcoming, friendly and professional.
From my initial telephone conversation, to arriving for my appointment and all correspondence since has been nothing but a wonderful experience.

Booked in for LASIK iDesign in Birmingham on the 15/8/25 after initial consultation at Wolverhampton office a month earlier.
I was a little apprehensive and watching videos did not help. From walking into Birmingham office, I could tell straight away that this was a highly professional place. Clean, smart and the customer services was very welcoming.
After a few more scans and tests I got taken upstairs to another waiting room. I got to see people called in, then come out 30mins later with a big smile.
The surgeon was the same one I had a video consultation with a few weeks prior, and confirmed both eyes LASIK iDesign.
I had a relatively small prescription but enough to need glasses for driving and watching TV. He reassured me that it would not be a long procedure due to the low prescription.
They loaded me into 2 machines, one to laser the flap open, then another to do the correction. I think I got lasered for about 15 seconds each eye.
There is some uncomfortable pressure on the eye, but I felt no pain and was not worried, just a bit tense at times. But it was all over so quick I couldn't believe it.
Check up the next day at less than 20hrs after surgery and I have better than 20/20 vision! Slight halo around lights, very little dryness I went and bought some new sunglasses that i didnt have to pay an arm and a leg for prescription!
100% would recommend here for your procedure, I couldnt be more chuffed.

I had my lens replaced last year, staff were great and very supportive. Even after having the aftercare appointments, felt really looked aftered.
4wks ago I had yag laser to remove the mist from my lens. I attended my 4wk aftercare appointment and waited 50mins before I got seen. I was not impressed one bit, especially since my appointment was re arranged by optical express. I have noticed a big flop on how patients are treated afterward, it's like I couldn't care less attitudes.
There's a reason why we have appointment times, so staff need to adhere to this rather than running behind and keeping other patients waiting 50mins.

Had a fantastic experience with Optical Express. Absolutely lovely people from surgeon Dr Mughal to Optometrists Alia and Amir, surgical manager Owne Reception team - Sana and Tan and manager Lorna. All super stars. I now have 20/20 vision although I was scared it was the best decision I have made.
Attention to detail and the personalised care provided has been exceptional. I highly highly recommend this company to anyone considering visual correction surgery.

I arranged to have lens replacement surgery, only to be told 5 days before my surgery date that I am not eligible for the surgery. They took my deposit 3 months ago. Complete incompetence and 0 professionalism. Just to rub salt in the wound, they then tell me that I will have to wait 28 days for my £1,000 deposit to be returned. Avoid this company and go elsewhere.

Poor customer service, the whole team seem to be all over the place like lost chickens not a clue whats going on. I waited over 40mins to be seen only to be told they can't see me after 2 days of going through everything backeards & forth over the phone. Complete waste of time.

Rude, unsafe, and uncaring. Needs to be shut down
Disappointing to arrive for your appointment, that you paid £6000 for, and be told there is a 3 hour wait despite actually being early for the appointment anyway. As well as this, you are told you can have a chaperone, but when we arrived were told chaperones cannot be in the waiting room and then cannot be in the surgery... so why say you can have one if you clearly can't? My terrified partner was told she would have to wait alone for 3 hours, couldnt leave and come back, had to stay in the room. They lied about what happens during the surgery, and when my partner asked them to stop because it was hurting they just ignored her and kept going till she was in tears, which i imagine is why they didnt want a chaperone in there seeing the evidence. After thr surgery she called me and I went through despite the reception staff trying to stop me, to find her in the corner in floods of tears saying she wanted to leave because she didn't feel safe there a d the nurse basically shouting at her and myself rather than trying to help. People in the waiting room said they had been there for 5+ hours, some had even bad to come back the next day because as they ran out of time. Considering the money this place is raking in they don't seem to care about giving you value for it, and are VERY pushy trying to get tou to hand over more for other things. This is all after they lost our forms in the first place, delaying our booking to begin with. Safe to say will be looking elsewhere if any of us need surgery in the future. Would give zero stars if we could.

Terrible Laser surgery after-care, it seems like they just want your money, they do not care about your well-being. There was about 8 people in the same time slot as mine, the whole thing was rushed (I even felt my eyes burning during the laser surgery the numbing drops did nothing)! Once I came out the surgery room I thought they would put me in a dark room for 1 hour to let my eyes relax - they didn't. They talked to me abruptly in a very bright room to give my eye drops and sent me on my way! Do not believe the surgeon when he tells you that you now have 20/20 vision and no astigmitism - my local opticians confirmed that is not the case at all after my regular eye test was done. After 3 years now, I do not think my vision quality is good compared to when I was wearing my glasses and lenses - they do put pressure on you to take the most expensive laser so be careful.
