A very convenient convenience store!

The store colleague Jeremy was unnecessarily pedantic when I shopped here recently, including regarding such things as how many tills there are. He's one of those sad individuals who thinks they have a clever answer for everything but just comes across as pathetic. Thankfully, he isn't representative of all staff there...Although the big girl can be trying, sometimes.

Co-op is a really expensive company by comparison to all the other much bigger Supermarkets and I wonder how on earth it survives amidst such competition. An answer is fairly clear: their geographical positioning is strategically excellent. They have stores in locations where it's much more convenient to use the Co-op than the competition. For example; the Southam Tesco is on the industrial estate on the outskirts of the town and it's staff are less than polite or desirable. Whereas, Co-op is smack-bang in the centre of Southam. ?However, the cost of items from Co-op is absolutely unacceptable. Their location provides them with a semi-captive footfall - especially from the local elderly. In turn, the Co-op thank their customers with prices that are downright insulting across most of their lines. As an example, someone I know showed me a 200g jar of Tesco Coffee which cost them £2.29. They then produced a 100g jar of Co-op Coffee which cost them £2.40 - more expensive for half the amount. They gave me a cup of the Co-op Coffee and I thought it was weak and tasteless. Hmm. ?When we have elderly people all over the country who sit under blankets - perishing cold because they can't afford winter heating costs - and they eat cheap, unhealthy, rubbish food because they can't afford the unnecessarily extortionate prices at Co-op ... something is terribly wrong. ?When one considers that Co-op are probably the bottom of the grocery shop choice for the majority of folks, it doesn't endear them to those in need of a local place to buy food at an affordable cost. In my view, they are morally bankrupt. ?

Not enough staff on the tills

Whomever does the stock control needs retraining, always seems to be half empty these days. Staff are generally OK, but don't appear to get much support from higher up, allowed to sell alcohol when they open on Sundays but tills not updated so it won't go through, not great customer service that. I think it's generally gone downhillover the last few years, luckily for them, not much in the way of options or I'd suspect they'd be.much quieter!

Got ID?d for an energy drink with car keys showed my ID out and showed it then my gf got id?d also when she has tattoos? And it was for me. Then she tried getting her id up on an app and the employee with glasses was rude about it? the week prior the same guy served me and was too busy on a call the whole time. No hello or thank you.

Up until today I was singing the co-op's praises. All through lock down the staff were fantastic with social distancing carefully monitored and people behaving sensibly. However, today I'm in this store and I'm amazed to see the amount of shoppers not wearing a face covering!! Pure selfishness. I can appreciate there are genuine cases of people who are exempt but this was a joke. Sort it out Co-op staff!!!

Really good branch. It has grown and has so much going for it including freshly squeezed orange juice, slushies, costa coffee and hot chocolate and all the great service one can expect from Co-op.
