My son had been asking for a hamster for a few months, we caved last week and went to ?have a look? and ended up with our new family member!
We were met with the lovely Lynda, she was so kind and amazing with my son too. She shown us all the hamsters and even Guinea pigs to ensure my son was making the right decision. He fell in love with a Russian dwarf hamster and he called her socky.
Initially we were just going to buy what the hamster would need so Lynda took us around the shop, advised what we needed and my son chose it all.
We got home and set it everything up but quickly changed our minds on going back to get the hamster my son chose in case she was sold when we went back. Again we were met by Lynda who safely got her in her temp box to travel home to be greeted by my very happy children.
She?s settled amazingly and after a few days my son has started bonding with her as she?s allowing us to hold her and feed her treats.
We did have a call from pets at home to check how we?re getting on but unfortunately missed the call but I think this is great to ensure she?s gone to a good home.
Thank you Lynda for your kindness and love to my son in choosing his first pet. A forever memory and he?s so very happy and in love!
I?m sure we?ll be back soon for him to buy even more toys and treats for her! ?

Nice, big store. They have a large car park with disabled spaces.
The entrance is wheelchair accessible. There are two floors. There are many stairs to get to the upper floor, and I?m not sure if they have a lift, so if you need this and want to go upstairs, it might be best to ring the store and check this first.
Downstairs is where they sell food for Dogs, small animals, fish, etc. Toys and bedding for small animals are also available. They have live animals in store, usually rabbits, guinea pigs, Syrian hamsters, rats, and various fish for sale, including accessories. When I last went in there a couple of months ago, they also had older rabbits being offered for adoption. In my opinion, the cleanliness of the cages could have been improved. Some were quite dirty, with faeces everywhere, including in the water bowls; this was most apparent in the rabbit cages. However, all the animals looked healthy, active and happy.
They sell live food, such as crickets and locusts; however, almost all the animals in each tray had died. It was a very hot day, which could have contributed to this. Still, I find the quality of their live food pretty poor throughout the year, with at least a few dead or only living a day after buying, so I always get the live food for my animals elsewhere from a pet store on Ashby Road.
They also have a dog grooming section on the ground floor.
Upstairs is where they keep all you need for cats. This confused me the first time, and I spent ages walking around the shop looking for cat food, so please don?t make the same mistake as I did if you?re reading this! They have a decent amount of produce for cats concerning food; however, they don?t have many cat toys, certainly not as many as in the same brand stores in Hinckley and Coventry. They have minimal treats, beds, scratching posts and a tower or two. You must carry it all downstairs if you want to buy them, which is annoying. It would be a good idea for them to keep some baskets upstairs to make this easier.
They also have a Vet 4 Pets upstairs.
The staff at the till are generally very friendly. Unfortunately, there isn?t enough staff in the store if you need to ask anything, so I usually have to ask at the till, and they call someone to come and help. The staff seem to have the minimum amount of knowledge needed to look after and give advice when selling animals. Still, the majority I?ve met are not knowledgeable enough to advise about the various treatments they sell, which fish shouldn?t be sold together, etc.
It?s like most other Pets at Home stores I?ve visited. The only difference is having the cat products upstairs, which is a hassle, and I?m not sure they have a lift to make the upstairs accessible. It?s good if you need a place with a good selection of dog food, small animal food, toys and bedding. Small selection of fish, tanks, and accessories. However, I would choose the Hinckley store if you want an ample supply of cat toys, bedding and accessories. I wouldn?t recommend this as a place to get live food. Personally, I wouldn't buy animals here, as the ones in their Hinckley store are kept in cleaner conditions. I rate it 3 and a half.

You couldn't wish for lovelier staff and the stock of pretty products is just immense. They literally have everything in here and it isn't overpriced either. I hate shopping but I enjoy my trips here.

Had been directed to Nuneaton store after Canley phoned to checked that they had what we needed. This was some distance for me to travel as I?d already travelled to Canley as my closest store didn?t have what I wanted to buy. The young man who started to serve me was delightful but the conversation was hijacked by two female colleagues who were both rude, obnoxious and only wanted to sell me a high value item that I did not need. Utterly disgraceful attitude with contradictory information and let down the brilliant staff at other locations. Would not visit this particular store again.

Absolutely appalling they?ve got a full size rabbit and not big enough for it to run. They were questioning about my run which is bigger than what the rabbit has inside. Wouldn?t go here again they want to know far too much information disgraceful ???
