Love this place. Took our 7 and 11 year old girls and they loved it too. Very covid safe also. We picked an early slot and managed to see the chimps and gorillas with out any crowding or trying to nudge past people. Good food outlets too. All the staff are friendly and knowledgeable too...updated now my girls are 10 and 14 l, they still have a great time here

Lots to see, lots to do. All easily accessible in this compact zoo. Great price for (what amounts) to an annual pass.

Food options poor. If its raining very few places to sit down. I bought a portion of chips for £5. They didnt look enticing on the photo advertising them and true to the photo they looked and tastef horrible on arrival. I ate 3. Staff too busy to be bothered. Swear some animals they didnt have...just had empty cages. Usually go to Chester Zoo. Will do in future.

Good day out

Twycross really has gone downhill. A lot of the enclosures are empty. The owls were fenced off with no access. Due to the weather, we wanted to sit inside to have our picnic, but the only places open were the main restaurant and chip shop where eating own food is discouraged, the inside picnic area was closed. Nothing for mothers, no displays on any enclosure to point out who the mothers are, etc. Nothing was working in the gruffalo section of the zoo, making the recent additions to the park not worth displaying. It's nowhere near how it used to be, and I'm really discouraged to visit again or even recommend friends to visit, which is a great shame!

Twycross zoo on a non school holiday day may be seen as tired and some enclosures are in need of updating however their engagement with children is very high. It is clear the zoo has thought about children engagement, however sometimes it left the zoo feeling more like an attraction. Broken glass barriers in areas were seen, and low barriers on the penguin enclosure allowed children to climb up and be too close to the animals with risk to the animals and children. The keeper talks were so interesting and really engaging with the keepers/speakers was very good and engaged myself and friends very much. The signage could do with a personal touch, but the overall information was okay. It was a nice day out, but the zoo could do with improvement, which is why the 2030 goals are so exciting, the funding for lecture halls and their goals for the future is really inspiring, good luck!

A perfect sized zoo for a day out with little kids. They were doing a 'pat once, visit all year' ticket which makes it incredibly good value if you aren't too far away. Their specialism is primates so there are lots of monkeys and apes to see, but other highlights were the tiger, giraffe, rhinos and a lorikeet walk-through aviary. The Gruffalo walkthrough was under maintenance when we were there last but that's really nice for little ones when it's working. The only food in the park is fish and chips but there is another cafe in the centre at the entrance by the soft play.

Some of the park has felt a little tired and worn out alongside animals. Would love more interactive sessions outside of talks. Maybe adding a petting area onto what they have kind of started with the goats using more of the free Space on the graffalo walk. The softplay is horrendously filthy and genuinely needs a regular deep cleaning schedule.Everything aside this is an amazing day out and we've been going for 10 years. Fish and chips are spectacular too.

Great day out for all ages. Lots of animals to see and brilliant modern fun enclosures to see gibbons and chimpanzees. Cafes and a gift shop, soft play too for an extra fee. Eating lunch in the main restaurant whilst watching snow leopards was brilliant. Lots of parking and toilets. Activities throughout the year and daily animal talks. A couple of playground/parks. The great thing is you buy a ticket and it's valid for 12 months so we will be back when it's a bit warmer. Lots of animals to see. It's missing a reptile house though I think - the only thing missing.

We've been going for a number of years and it could definitely do with a bit of TLC at the moment. Only 2 of the 9 interactive buttons were working today, plus the big gruffalo bit wasn't working either. Lots of areas also fenced off including the lemurs and grass area that used to be there to sit on, the bush dogs, the Indonesian longhouse. Ticket is a bargain, but would rather pay a bit more and have better quality.

This is a review of me cycling to the zoo and going in just for a coffee!! You can walk into the cafe and visitor centre without paying to go to the zoo itself. Good coffee, big cups! My new best cafe for while out cycling! Check out the view of the snow leopard from our table!!

It was a great day out. The talks are very informative and the staff will very happily answer any questions you have about the animals. We took our time going around and we were there for the entire day. There were a lot of puddles and slightly slippy pathways since it had rained so if the forecast is looking a bit grim then I advise popping some wellies or good boots on.Some enclosures are starting to look a little tired but you can see in places that they are working on it.I do feel that the Chimpanzee Eden needs an enforced one way route if it's a busy day. Unfortunately it was very difficult to get through parts in there when lots of pushchairs are trying to get past each other on that narrow track.Other than that the zoo itself is a solid 5 stars for me still!However.. that ticket booking system..The way the ticket system works now is an absolute nightmare and almost feels like a social experiment because of how infuriating it is to try and navigate. I've been to quite a few places now and I've never come across anything like it!I very nearly gave up on the process and went somewhere else. It took me almost 45 minutes to figure it out, and I dread to think how difficult it is for older folks who are much less tech savvy than I am..Please please PLEASE look into sorting this, having seen recent reviews I know I am not alone in this feeling!

A very enjoyable visit on a school teacher training day. It had been very wet weather so wellies would of been a benefit. The grandson still wanted icecream though, the kiosk was closed but available at the soft play area/ shop.Soft play is a great place for children to de- energize and adults to re-energise before the drive home

Quite a frustrating experience for me and my family, unfortunately. The parking was huge and it was not an issue as there was parking space but it took is 10 minutes to go to the actual entrance. That you can argue is out of their control, however placing a soft play centre in the very beginning of a zoo was a big no-no for us. That spoiled our toddler?s experience (and ours) and she no longer wanted to see any animals, but wanted to go back there so we spent our whole time trying to entertain her with the animals, who in a lot of cages were non existent. The entrance to the chimpanzee bit was not opened and we couldn?t figure out how to get in, we couldn?t see any tigers either. Weather wasn?t great and everywhere was extremely muddy, everyone was shoving in and queuing to see the 2 giraffes. Most of the enclosures were covered in reflective glass on which you could only see people behind you in the reflection and the animals were miles away hiding into the distance. Very frustrated with an experience that took an hour to drive to :/
