I have been a Halfords customer for more than 40 years. For most of that time, your stores have been my first choice for motoring and cycling essentials ? the place I could rely on to have what I needed, when I needed it.
Over the last couple of years, however, I have found myself leaving your stores empty-handed more often than not.
Two recent examples:
I could not find a popular Ford touch-up paint for my car.
I needed to replace or top up some small tools from my existing Halfords toolkit, but was told I could only buy a complete new set.
These are the kinds of simple, everyday purchases that used to be a given at Halfords. Now, I am often forced to turn to Amazon or eBay for items I would much prefer to buy in-store.
I want to be clear that this is not a criticism of your staff. On the contrary, they have always been helpful and professional, and they do their best despite the limitations imposed on them. They are still a credit to the Halfords name. My concern is with the direction of the business ? in reducing stock range and everyday availability, you risk losing loyal customers like myself entirely.
After 40-plus years of choosing Halfords before going online, I feel genuinely let down. If this trend continues, I will no longer be able to see Halfords as my go-to store for motoring essentials, and that is something I never thought I would have to say.
I hope you will take this feedback in the spirit intended ? as a warning from a long-standing customer who still wants to see Halfords thrive. Please consider whether recent changes to your product availability and range are worth the cost of losing the very people who have supported you for decades.
