There?s something about The Talyllyn that no other heritage railway can relate to. I don?t know if it?s the history, engines or those involved but whatever it is, the TR has a heart of gold and I love it for that. When I came to the TR for the first time in July 2023 for the Awdry Extrav 3, it was like being on the Skarloey Railway and I loved every second of it.Keep on going strong, TR. hope to come again in July

Superb little railway, I visited on their day of the new season so only one locomotive running ( No 3, Sir Haydn) they add more engines as it becomes busier, also excellent special events during the year. Beautiful scenery with mountains and waterfalls along the valley. There are several little stations along the way where one can take a stroll or just stop for tea and cakes. Great little museum with a section devoted to the Reverend AW AWDRY who wrote the Thomas the Tank engine books. Many of the stories inspired by this railway and it's locomotives.

A great little toursit attraction and if you are in the greater area would be foolish to miss. We planned a whole day trip with getting off at certain stations to see more attractions such as the Dolgoch Falls and then stopping off again for lunch in a nice local cafe.I guess this is the original hop on hop off service and the trains are all clean, well painted and it must be a lablour of love from the all the volunteers that make this railway an experience woth visitng.

Great fun, even for someone who knows nothing about railways, let alone the specifics of this line and its history. Beautiful views along this short route, friendly staff who are more than happy to chat and explain the history of the line. Cafe at the start and on the route is a welcome addition to the lovely walks on the route from the individual stations. Explorer ticket good value for money and you can easily spend a good chunk of a day on the line.

Excellent service. Little confusion by platform staff who implied my wife couldn't take prosecco on board in 1st class even though we pre purchased it. Lovely journey though with very comfy seats. Worth the extra for first class. Did not realise my ticket included £11 towards drinks at cafe. When we got back had a lovely meal at Cafe and used our voucher. Wife had her prosecco and staff were so apologetic that she had not had it for the journey and went to find the member of staff and educate him about it. He had told us no open cups on board and the prosecco would have to go in a coffee cup so better not on board. However she enjoyed it with her Welsh rarebit. Kids had Excellent veggie burgers and I enjoyed a chicken burger with chips. Will be coming again. Then spent to much in the gift shop. Great souvenirs of a pleasant day.

Brilliant day's travelling on an Explorer ticket so we could get on and off near our holiday cottage. The staff were great too with the only downside being that we didn't get the drinks vouchers by buying online. Despite this the food in the station restaurant was really good and decent value too. Well worth doing the trip if you're in the area.

Absolutely spectacular and beautiful. If you have even a slight interest in trains or nice scenery: this is the place to go! I came during the Awdry Extravaganza 3 and had a wonderful time meeting and talking with everyone! You get to go up a line the goes to the mountains and on the way you'll see sights you'll never forget! Can't recommend enough!

This is a lovely place with a great friendly team of people running it. The views are amazing, and if you're a lover of the Thomas the tank engine this is where it all began. We were a two family group 4 adults 3 children aged 10, 11 \\u0026 12 and 3 dogs. Parking was very reasonable £2.20 for 4 hours, but I'd recommend staying longer.
