Stayed for one night before going to the races. Had dinner in the bar area which was excellent, we have eaten in many places but the steak with peppercorn sauce & fish & chips were absolutely delicious, in fact the best we had ever eaten (& we have eaten many!). The en-suite double room was spotless with tea/coffee/biscuits etc. Breakfast was also perfect and plentyful. We had packed lunch too! Owners & staff very friendly & helpful. Would definitely stay again! Highly recommend.

We stopped here for a drink, it's a lovely cosy pub with good selection of drinks. The food smelled great so we came back the next day for lunch, it was great! Tasty pub food and lovely landlords. A really great place to stop!

We had a very comfortable 3 night stay in a large room, with everything we needed. The breakfasts were excellent with plenty of choice. The cooked breakfast was delicious, especially the bacon. At the evening meal we were spoilt for choice and everything we both ate was fabulous.

Lovely hotel, has a real homely feel to it. I think it looks so inviting from outside. As we arrived in tintern and drove through the village to the hotel, we rounded the corner and my mum said 'oh the wye valley hotel, that looks nice'. I said, 'that's where we're staying!' We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay. Delicious breakfast in the morning, with butchers sausage, bacon, good quality eggs, tomato and mushrooms. It filled us up till our evening meal. The evening meals were also very good quality, proper homecooked food, amazing fish and chips! Barry and Sue were such lovely hosts, friendly and took a genuine interest in where we were going each day. The staff we met of an evening were also really friendly and attentive. Our rooms were bright and airy. Very clean and the tea tray had an array of teas and coffee and packet of biscuits. It was great they were replenished each day as some hotels don't do this. The bar had a real traditional feel to it, nice atmosphere to eat in for our evening meal. We chose to eat at the hotel for all 3 of our nights.

What a lovely hotel! My room was bright and clean, hotel staff were attentive and polite, food was fabulous (ate evening meal and breakfast there over the course of a one night business stay.). It also felt good value for money. The location was just fantastic - 15 mins drive outside Chepstow. Will definitely be back

Contemporary decor, friendly staff, parking, clean and tidy and a brilliant, well cooked meal. Couldn?t ask for more from a local pub/restaurant. Food and table/bar service was excellent. Food was hot, well cooked and plentiful. Drinks cold & well served.

A beautiful hotel in a wonderful location. There was a traditional feel downstairs and modern feel in the rooms upstairs. There was a great attention to details and the service was impeccable. The food was delicious too. I would highly recommend a visit.

Really delicious lunch.Proper home cooked fare. Children's menu was the best we've had, with proper home cooked kids food not just frozen and fried junk like most places.Pie was delicious, shortcrust pastry that was just like my mum used to make me as a boy. Loved it. Thank you

This is a great hotel situated in the village and in walking distance of the Abbey and other activities (walks and breweries). The owners are really friendly and the pub is busy so has a lovely vibe.Breakfast was great and I heard that they will make up packed lunches if you need them.Rooms have hair driers and tea and coffee and are really spacious for a cottage hotel.Would stay again.Nearby activities: walking distance to the Abbey and only minutes away (by car) from Chepstow and the Forest of Dean.

I love the YHAs I?ve been coming to these places with my family since I was a small kid. They are always in the most beautiful place with amazing people running it. The room always smell fresh and look amazing with beautiful view. The staff are always kind and helpful and the food is to die for. The camp sites and the bell tents are a lovely place to stay if you like a mix between camping and a lovely bed at night. Everyone is kind and welcoming and would 100/100 recommend. There?s nothing they can do to make this place better. Always in the perfect locations with a ton to do during the day. Walking, climbing, canoeing or just relaxing on the beautiful terrain with your friends or just with your family. I love every place of a yha and are always surrounded by beautiful nature and a calming atmosphere. RECOMMEND!!

We stayed in Tintern, which is a beautiful village with 5 places to eat. We sampled 4 out of the 5 during our week long stay. The River Wye Hotel had a traditional feel about it. We ended up eating here 3 evenings out of the 7. The menu changed twice during that time as they use seasonal ingredients and it depends on the weather and what they can source. We ate on a Sunday and my girls enjoyed the Sunday roast. The Gammon, Brie and peach was different but very tasty. My husband ordered a smoked salmon and crayfish salad, which he enjoyed. The next time we visited, we had the homemade pies. Sue makes the most delicious pies. We had the beef and mushroom. It was one of the nicest pies we had tasted. We returned the following evening and she made chicken and ham pies especially for us. We couldn?t fault this place for their hospitality, service and food quality. Thank you for helping make our holiday special.

This is basically a pub with rooms . First impressions were not great as it seemed in need of modernisation . However our room was excellent with a lovely big bed and a bright bathroom . Loved the clock in the large bathroom mirror . The shower could have been more powerful The owners and staff were very friendly and the bar had a good selection of local beers . Good breakfast and somewhere to definitely stay at again
