I usually visit the Castle Inn a few times every summer and always enjoy my visits. They?ve tidied up the beer garden in recent years and it?s always been a nice cosy little pub. Decent range of beers etc on tap. The food is generally very good. Particularly their flat breads which in my opinion are the best dish on the menu. Tasty and plenty of it so reasonable value. They have friendly young staff but service (for food at least) isn?t anything special. You sometimes don?t get a table visit from staff once your food has arrived to check it?s ok or if anything else is needed, and tables sometimes stay uncleared. However, it can be very busy and I?d recommend booking in advance. That said everyone there is pleasant enough. Two recent visits have disappointed a little in relation to value for money. We ordered a squid side dish which although tasty was £9 for four modest squid rings. More disappointing was the vegetarian platter to share. It?s one of the most expensive things on the menu at £30 and was incredibly poor value for money. Definitely not enough for two to share. It consisted of 6 small feta stuffed peppers and a similar number of small falafels and some halloumi cheese pieces. The remainder consisted of a small green salad some dips and a one small flat bread. No olives as stated on the menu. It all tasted fine in fairness but I felt robbed for the price. If it was priced the same as the flat bread dish (a little more than half the cost) and not listed as a ?sharing platter? it would have been fine. Some honest feedback from a regular visitor which I hope is taken on board. It?s a good little place and it would be a shame if customers started to leave there feeling a little disappointed (as we have recently).?

We were staying in Lydstep and decided to try this place after a recommendation. Wow. The food was amazing and the actual place is fantastic, proper old school pub feel to it. We didnt book as we couldn't get through on the landline, luckily they were able to fit 3 of us in on a reserved table as long as we ate quick, we do and did. The staff were so accommodating for us and another couple before us who allso couldnt book. Gutted it's not a local for us, 8 hour round trip for fish and chips isn't cost effective. If you're in the area and want some fantastic food in a lovely friendly place, this is where to go. 10 out 10.

Delightful pub, very cosy interior and a fantastic beer garden at the back. The food they served us was far better than I would have expected.

Brilliant 2 night stay at the castle inn! Would definitely return. Great location to beach, walks and the castle! Absolutely beautiful food in the pub, cannot fault the service and the staff, nothing was too much! I Recommend coming for food and drinks- great atmosphere! I recommend booking as it?s fully booked most nights. Thank you! We will be back ?

we came for dinner without reservation, had no real trouble getting table.
whilst dog friendly, we found we were restricted to a certain section of the pub so just be aware of you?re bringing a pooch.
a good draught beer selection with both locally brewed ales and your popular lagers, ciders and guinness available.
if you are grabbing a bite, make sure to get one of their flatbreads! certainly seems to be the standout menu option whatever the filling of choice.
i went for the chicken souvlaki w/ tzatziki, salad, chips and oregano and it was bigger than my head, and seriously tasty.
felt prices were reasonable all round also. this quirky pub is a solid choice if you?re in need of feeding + watering
