Just as the chips started to improve, having been full of black rot for some time, now they are coming out lukewarm and mushy. We thought to give it another try but never again.

I used to always like coming through here whenever I passed by as the food was always a good quality. Tonight however puts an end to that. I found the odd good chip, that wasn't green/grey or a soggy mess whilst I was picking my way through, but in the end I gave up.

The place was late opening, we all had to wait ages to be served, the fish was small, the chips, curry sauce and breadcake were ok, but the saveloy sausage was tasteless. I spent £13, then had to pay another 10 pence for a bag ?

Cod was very dry and chips were soggy, Although has very nice environment, we were out to sit in the pub garden and eat food with drinks from the bar. Perhaps it would better to cook the fish to order?

Arrived just before the evening rush, we were served immediately on entering the premises. The fish was well cooked but the chips, although cooked enter up a little soggy, possibly due to the vinegar.

Was amazing food, we had cheesy chips,sausage and fish and chips large x2 Chinese curry sauce 18.50Really good and tasty better than home in plymouth highly recommend ? found this place on Google maps 20mins or so from cottage we are staying in ? staff very friendly and there were people queuing which was good

This hotel looks nothing like the photos on their website. It was covered in grime, cobwebs, and spiders, and there was a lot of mold in the bathroom. I took videos and brought this to the owner's attention, but never received a response. They also charged my card prior to my arrival and this is a violation of their own booking policy, which the owner admitted to me shouldn't have happened. I asked for a refund as I felt this was not at all what I was promised when I booked, but after no response, I went through my bank for a refund, which I was granted. This hotel then charged my card AGAIN weeks later, and I was forced to cancel that card and get a new one. They've never responded to any of my emails, and I find this outright unprofessional.

I did not stay at this hotel as a guest, but I did pull over during a very long drive to get some chips at the fish bar downstairs. Honestly, they were the best chips I have had in a VERY long time. I can't remember being this pleased by chips for the last 15 years.

Basic but friendly accommodation in the heart of Brecon. Greeted with a warm and friendly smile. Initial room was far too small so we were IMMEDIATELY transferred to ?the lodge? - a much bigger private room and given extra pillows. Staff were helpful and friendly - thanks to Braydon for all his assistance. Owner and host, Ian was more than hospitable- and for a charge offered to take us to the wedding we were attending and pick us up (local taxi service is very poor). This was a huge relief, and a very generous gesture. Thanks for a lovely Welsh welcome and stay guys. We hope to return again one day.
