Staff were lovely.
Room were dated, no air con. Couldn't even open window due to a broken handle.
Well overpriced

Alright, near city centre

The room was very tired, stains everywhere, torn carpet and dusty tv area.

Yes it's a dated building and it shows from cracks in the ceiling to a non working light but I think not only does the cheap cost make up for that but so does the service and quite frankly the dated nature of the place adds to its personality. Reception were patient with me as it takes me time to process information and staff that came into the room while we were out were respectful and generous. Not only were all of my belongings in the same messy pile I left them in but they remade the bed for us and replaced the 2 biscoff I scoffed. Also the review that mentions the lift is correct it is a three person lift but only twice was that a problem out of what I would say was 10 times using the lift and if you don't have the patience there did seem to be stairs. Check in is generously early at 3pm and the check out window ends at 11am. Overall, a lovely stay and excellent service.

This hotel is well located in the City, just a few minutes from the railway station. I only stayed the one night being in the area but yes, I can concur that the hotel is dated as such, but the room was quite sizeable, clean & comfortable so that is always a positive for me. The bathroom was also a decent size as well.

Hotel is quite old, capet in rooms are old, only one lift ( 3 people max ) working. Needs a bit updating.

It looks like a 1970s build that has received little attention since. The room was't too bad, it was clean, even though the carpet was rucking up (see photos) and the bathroom heater had seen better days. The staircase carpets were worn out, probably because the lifts are slow and tiny. They will just about accommodate 2 people with bags!
The dining room looked like it was about to have a ceiling collapse, there were several faulty electrical sockets, and the coffee machine wasn't working. Breakfast was pretty dour. If you were trying to be healthy then there were some orange slices, and small pieces of watermelon on offer. Cereals, toast and an overcooked selection of bacon, sausage, beans, eggs etc.
The check in time was 3pm, and we were there about 30 minutes early. Even though the room was available they were not going to let us go up to it! Quite dismal customer service. I'm surprised it is still in business. A demolition and rebuild by a reputable hotelier would be the best thing for Swansea, as it is in a good location for the city.

The 2 rooms I have booked were awfully dirty including bedding, linen and carpets. The staff are unfriendly. We spent the night over our own clothing spread over the beds as travelled 200 miles to reach Swansea for my son graduation. Horrible experience. Please see picture I have taken for the hotel management who did not even apologise - actually even charged me for late check out.

What an overpriced, underwhelming experience.
The entrance lobby was nice but it all went downhill from then.
1 of 2 lifts broken.
The room was not very welcoming, dirty and the carpet had a big hole in it that they hadn't even tried to cover.
Smoke detector hanging from ceiling.
We complained and was removed to a room on the 6th floor. This was a disabled user room but unsure how access would be to a wheelchair user as the lifts are tiny.
Went to use the shower but the clamp to hold shower head was broken so you needed to hold it one handed while washing with the other hand. Again the room was very old and dated.
Food in the restaurant very limited and overpriced.
Definitely will not revisit and highly recommend to not try it.

The Dragon Hotel is showing it's age. One very small lift was working,of the 2. The rooms were clean but much in need of refurbishing. Bathrooms were clean and the linen was good. The bar area was comfortable but had a very limited food menu. There were no toilets in the bar but there was one on the first floor which was apparently not great. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. Expensive for what you got, especially for weekend nights.

No free parking for you even if you book a room or conference hall.. You?d have to pay separately to park in the car park behind the hotel

Great location in the centre of Swansea with parking available for a fee. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room and general hotel is tired, dated and needs some improvement. The room I stayed in had burns in the carpet, paint feeling off the walls and light bulbs not working. The onsite restaurant has minimal food options and one evening the room had only lukewarm water. Probably wouldn?t stay here again.

We stayed as a group of 30 people recently and although 1 of the small lifts was not working, we all worked around it.
Check in was quick and efficient, staff absolutely wonderful.
Food was perfect, large helpings and cooked to perfection.
All the staff are very welcoming under the efficient control of the Manager Glen, who kept checking that all was OK with our Group.
Spe ial mention for Anastasia and Andrea who took extra care of us and we would highly recommend this hotel.
The owners need to take note though that some areas need updating as the Staff can only do so much.
Hopefully, all being well we are looking to re-visit next year and our FIRST point of call will be The Dragon Hotel.
Thank you once again to Glen, Anastasia, Andrea and all the staff.

3.5 stars would be a more realistic score.
Location is amazing, right next to the city centre, several shops within a few minute walk. And approximately 15 minute walk to the beach. Great city view from the window.
Rooms are pretty big, as are the bathrooms. Large TV too.
Bed was comfortable, and slept well (if you are a light sleeper, it is next to a busy road. And this may make it hard for some people to sleep).
Staff were polite, and helpful.
2 biggest downsides; the headboard was filthy, whilst the bedding itself was clean, some parts of the room were very dirty. There is only 1 working elevator, which can carry 3 people at most, and it's pretty slow.
As for the hot water (as a few people mentioned that in other reviews), I found if you turned the shower on for a few seconds, that heated up the tap water for a few hours.
It is however the cheapest hotel in Swansea, by a considerable margin.
If you're staying for a few nights at most, it's suitable. If you're there for a while, it would probably be worth staying somewhere else.
I'd happily stay again.
