Having eaten at The Beach House Oxwich I was looking forward to another fine dining experience at the Coast restaurant Saundersfoot. It's situated in a beautiful location and there's plenty of parking, but this is an additional £5 for all day. I was greeted by lovely gentleman, even though we were 30min late due to a car accident, there was no issue to seat us . We chose the 5 Course Taster Menu and every one was absolutely delicious. Was quite surprised that the bottle of water was charged as we were asked if we'd like still or sparkling as soon as we sat down, but was unaware this was a chargeable item. On top of the meal, we ordered a couple of Mocktails at £8 each and a coffee that was £5, again, great quality. The afternoon was very relaxed and not rushed, we were there for over 3hrs. Only disappointment was when paying for the meal. We had booked under an offer, which was a Blackfriday deal. This was 30% off the food. When the bill arrived, we had not received the discount. I had already heard a couple on another table raise this and their bill was recalculated. When I raised this with the waiter, he asked if we had the discount voucher. I stated there was no voucher, that the offer was on Facebook to book by 1st December and we had to attend by the 29th February. I had an email confirmation of the booking and the date it was booked.I did feel rather uncomfortable as I felt as though I was trying to pull a fast one. Considering we had spent over £120 after the discount on the meal, it did take a shine of what had been an enjoyable afternoon. The bill was eventually sorted and although the gentleman did not seem overly happy about this, I did leave a £15 tip for the service.Parking: Right next to the restaurant, £5 all day.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp leading to restaurant. Restaurant and outside seating area on flat service

A great restaurant in a lovely location. Welcoming, helpful staff. Superb food. Not cheap, but pretty good value for money. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience.

Booked dinner with brother & sister in law for the taster menu on a Saturday night and had the following experience:- much longer than expected to be acknowledged by staff, on arrival.- wait to place initial drinks order took far longer than it should.- then things improved.- wine flight was exceptional and our waiter went through all flavours / origins (6 wines for 7 courses).- non-alcoholic options on the menu is by far and away the best we have ever found that wasn't just some diabetic sugary concoction - excellent thought went in to this.- each course was beautifully presented and some of the the flavours that were combined were delicious. Genuinely saddened by 2 of the items in the taster menu (really not liked them previously) but the chef completely turned me around on both.- the waiting staff quickly guaged our level and, within a few courses, were injecting some excellent comedy in to their service.

I went with my partner as she had been given vouchers to use, specific to this restaurant. The good stuff: staff were very helpful and pleasant. The rest was less impressive. We had the 3 course option, not cheap at just under £50 pp. I can't recall every single thing so I'll just comment on what I can. The amuse bouche was ok. My partner had the cauliflower as her main, which was... cauliflower, quite a lump with some OK cheese sauce. I had the steak and hispi cabbage. The cabbage was fine and I have made it myself since, comparable to what I ate at Coast. The steak was tasty but chewy. I don't have steak often but it was probably the median of all my experiences. My starter comprised of poached egg and black pudding with other (tiny) bits I can't recall. I finsihed off with the cheeseboard. The starter was quite bland and the cheeses were, in my opinion, no better or worse than those you could buy at a supermarket. My partner had thyme ice cream with her chocolate dessert, though this seemed quite strong in flavour and quite overwhelmed the rest of the dessert. The decor was pleasant if, like the food, underwhelming, and the view nice (but as I live in Pembrokeshire they weren't spectacular to me). Overall, unimpressed. A couple left as we sat digesting our dessert and were quite effusive to the staff about their experience. My partner and I looked at each other in bewilderment. We came away feeling what the fuss was about and is there some psychological impulse to claim satisfaction in something that was ultimately a let down solely because a) it was expensive, and/or b) to simulate good taste. Would I recommend? No. But perhaps I am the sort of person that doesn't enjoy the cutlery being set before each course as I am trying to talk with my partner (as nice as the staff were) or each dish explained in detail (it was on the menu!). Also, I resent the fact that there was no salt on the table, it's as if Coast had decided for you that it was unnecessary. It wasn't, not in the case of my starter. When was the last time you ate a poached egg without salt?Go, if you want that sort of experience, or feel the need to tell others how much you have spent on a meal. If you want food that has a cost:taste ratio of 1:1. go elsewhere.
