It was around lunch and sadly we had to wait 45m for our food. It was a big table and some of us finished our food before some of us even got any food at all.

First bad review I have ever done but sadly one of the worst meals we have had, chicken was as tough as rubber and inedible, the quiche was flat and dry maybe from over cooking, the batter on the fish was rock hard. After the mains we asked to cancel the dessert and they took our plates away with the chicken untouched except for one bite, no one asked how the meals were, why we hadn't touched one meal and why we had cancelled the desserts. The chicken was meant to come with corn but didnt, I asked about this and they said they didnt have any but hadn't told us when we ordered (the girl serving us did apologies for this and offered to replace with brocoli but we didnt have time to wait for it as were on a time limit).
The only thing I can say positive is the staff were very friendly and polite (hence the 2 stars not 1). I will also point out that because we were in a rush we didnt point out what was wrong so its possible that they would have tried to rectify it if we did but we didnt have time for the conversation.

Had a few drinks in lovely garden and then we sat inside for a beautiful roast dinner , whilst you couldn?t fault anything today the real winner was the quite top class service we had from a lovely lady called Sue . What an asset Sue is to your business and we look forward to returning soon . Many thanks for great hospitality ??

Had Sunday lunch three of us firstly the place is nice and the staff to.
Went straight to the main course meat was hot that was the best bit
Veg consisted of green beans red cabbage carrot swede mash not our first choice
The roasties were dry and not cooked properly
The beef was very chewy the turkey was fine
Yorkers ok gravy not good
Very disappointing as we were looking forward to it very much spent £100 on nothing really

What a lovely village pub the golden lion is, food is really good and service is excellent , everyone is so friendly, lits if seating inside and the garden, terrace is a lovely place to sit to eat food or just have a drink, we have visited twice now and we can't fault it at all, we'll worth a visit..

Our group of 48 singers were easily and happily accommodated tonight. From the capable and enjoyable service to the delicious, hot food we had a memorable experience to take back to Canada. Thank you to The Golden Lion Staff! Easily five stars!

10th Wedding Anniversary
We booked their Tee-Pee in the garden for our 10th Wedding Anniversary from the moment we visited the Golden Lion and even after our event we dealt with Ryan the General Manager who we could not fault at all made us feel welcome, anything we asked about no job was to small even any extras we asked was no trouble for them. During the event from the arrival of the 1st guest until the end of the event where looked after, all the staff involved were amazing 5* friendly and helpful. The food was outstanding big 5* to the Chef's great job pipping hot food that came out from the lunch time meal though to the evening buffet. If we need to book an event again we would make sure the Golden Lion will be our first port of call.
