Stayed at this hotel for 2 days but decided to extend it a further 4 days because of how much we loved it! No exaggeration! Whenever the sun comes out later this year I will definitely be come back to Elan because the staff was so friendly, the food was delicious, & the vibe of the whole place was actually amazing. I would definitely recommend for everyone to check this hotel out! Thanks for having me!

Very quiet evening in January. The weather is horrible. Decided to go out from my hotel to find some food, so glad I did. Lovely little bar with good food, excellent beer and lovely staff. Made a grey night very enjoyable.Food & drinks: Good food. Excellent beer.

Stayed 1 night. Family room was very spacious and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and attentive.Complimentary breakfast was nice. Parking available behind the hotel but only small vehicles can reach there through the small path.Worth the money paid. Will definitely choose The Elan Hotel for our next trip.

Brilliant value for money, lovely owners and great craic? food was fantastic, such great prices and family friendly. The owners went above and beyond, very welcoming. If you expect 5* accom which includes 2 fantastic cooked breakfasts & tea/coffee/juice for just 90£ in 2023 you?re delusional?Rooms are just what you need to explore the lovely town, as it?s just a place of rest for me on the budget I needed with a good fry up to set me up for the day - If you?re looking for a spa like retreat your budget should be starting at at least 120£ and don?t expect breakfast.Great value for money and fantastic caring, hard working owners.

Just returned from a wonderful stay at The Elan Hotel. The hotel was spotless and brilliantly clean. The staff were very attentive and catered to our every need - including fussy children's' meals. The food was brilliant and came very quickly despite a large number of patrons. We ate both dinner and breakfast and both were fabulous. We couldn't fault our stay at all - so much so we have already booked for next summer.

My friend and I stayed here Sunday night, we were the only guests as evident from breakfast. They put us in the 2 smallest rooms, mine was more like 11sqft instead of the promised 11sqm. Toilet wasn't properly cleaned and they wouldn't consider any sort of late checkout on Monday when requested and no reason why not. The room was nothing like the pictures. Also the parking was within a narrow alley and longer vehicles like mine can't even make it in. WiFi constantly dropped as well and what kind of card operated door takes 10 seconds to decide to open? (Photos show the shoe box allocated to their only guest - room 8)

I ordered a lamb curry which was so watery I almost asked for a straw to drink it with. I tried putting the rice in the curry to thicken it, to no avail. This lamb soup came with a naan bread, which was actually an overcooked wrap cut into triangles. The table opposite had garlic bread still frozen in the middle. When I told the chef I wasn't happy to pay £15 for a meal I didn't eat, I was met with hostility and told that every curry is different and that she never has any complaints (I have since found another review on trip advisor from August 2023 "both my brother and I ordered the lamb curry... I can only say they resembled greasy lamb gravy") they also had to send theirs back.Eventually I was able to get a fiver off my meal even though it was the worst curry I've ever had.I wouldn't ever usually leave a negative review but the way the chef spoke to me and handled this interaction was as disappointing as her curry.

Fantastic hotel. The room was very nice, Ours was a bit small but it suited our needs well. The bed was soo comfortable i had a great night sleep. The staff were fantastic, very helpful and always polite. The room was very clean, and so was the bathroom. I have noticed that in all the hotels that I have stayed in( i have stayed in many), there are not many shelves in the bathroom . The breakfast was great, we only had one dinner there and that was also great. Great place to start your walk from as well. Free parking at the back, which is I bit tricky to get into if you have a large car. I recommend this hotel to anyone who visits Rhayader.

Whilst in Rhayader visiting family over the August bank holiday weekend, we visited the Elan Hotel for a meal on the Saturday night (26th). Our table of seven was booked for 6:30pm. Upon arrival we were greeted with guests queuing two deep at the bar to get drinks with only one member of the bar team working who was obviously overwhelmed. We finally managed to purchase a round of drinks and sat at our table. No menus on the table meant that, when the team member came to take our order, we had to request them, she came back ten minutes later, and we ordered. To be clear, the pub/restaurant was busy, it?s bank holiday weekend and the business was full of regulars and visitors to the area?but there?s only one bar team member on and one team member in the restaurant! At no point were these two team members rude or short with us and handled the obvious stress of the occasion extremely well. Then came the extended wait for food. Whilst waiting, we decided to have another round of drinks, and due to the lack of table service meant we had to endure another long wait at the bar. The wait for food would have been bad enough if it had been seven adults, but we had two young children in our party who were understandably getting fractious about the extended wait. Looking round the restaurant, we weren?t the only ones waiting. On a normal service you see multiple tables leaving the kitchen at the same time or in quick succession. The impression I got was that each table had their food cooked in order so once one order/table was fulfilled, the kitchen team moved on to the following order/table and you only got your food once you were first in the queue. An hour and fifteen minutes after ordering, our food arrived. Both my brother and I ordered the Lamb Curry, I?d heard good things about the curries at the Elan so was keen to sample one. When they arrived I can only say that they resembled greasy lamb gravy, I returned mine immediately and said that I wouldn?t be eating it. My partners Butter Chicken, whilst being a little thicker in consistency, was not like any Butter Chicken she?d had in the past and she only managed to eat half of it. Similarly, my brother only ate half of his Lamb Curry. On all three dishes the rice was clumpy and gave the impression of being precooked and reheated. My sister-in-law?s steak wasn?t cooked as she requested but she was that hungry she decided to eat it rather than make a fuss. In fairness my daughter had the rack of ribs and enjoyed them similarly my nephews enjoyed their meals also. I was offered a replacement meal and a menu was brought for me to reorder, but by the time the waitress came back to take my order everyone else had either finished eating or had eaten as much as they could stomach. The sum total of my evening meal was three slices of naan bread. I asked to see a member of the management team and was informed that they were in the kitchen cooking and would be around ten minutes. No problem I said, as I really wanted to speak with someone to voice my displeasure. We waited and no-one came to the table. My sister-in-law went to the bar to get the bill (my meal was removed from the bill by the team member) and was informed that the management team were ?too busy? to come and speak with me and asked if I could leave my name and number and they would call me once the pub was quieter. I provided my details and noticed that the team member had written on it ?Please call ASAP?. To this date I haven?t received a phone call from the Elan Hotel. I?m not unreasonable, and to be honest, this is the first time I?ve ever had to use this forum to voice any issues I?ve had. I?ve worked in the Hospitality Industry for 33 years, and everyone has an off day, that?s the nature of the beast. But it?s not the off days that make or break a business, it?s how you handle your paying guests. I left the Elan Hotel that evening hungry following what was supposed to be a nice family meal. I had my brother and sister-in-law apologising to me for what had happened and feeling guilty when none of this was of their making

Avoid, avoid, avoid... we went to this bar, hotel and restaurant for food and drinks for a family of four: we weren't acknowledged at all by any staff, no eye contact no greeting NOTHING. After waiting for 10 minutes to ask if there was table available, the bar staff served a 'gentleman' who had pushed in front of us. We suspected this was the last table so promptly left. Funny though because they gave the table to 2 people, so would have half the profit! This place would benefit greatly in some training in customer service!!!
