I'm not usually one for leaving poor reviews. The only reason I am writing this one is because at the end of a customer satisfaction survey emailed to me by Specsavers, I was then asked to leave one. I have attended the cardiff Centre branch of specsavers a few times over the last 2 years and had always felt cared for during each visit. Due to working from home, I recently attended specsavers Pontypridd to discuss distance glasses for the first time (I had only worn screen work glasses to this point). And the initial visit was the same excellent standard of service I am used to from specsavers; i felt welcome cared for and informed during and after my visit. One week later I called in to collect my glasses, expecting the fitting, discussion and confidence-giving service I wanted in order to walk out with my first 'outside world' glasses. However, the service I actually received was limited, quite cold and unconvincing - I was not fitted for these glasses in any way and when I had concerns and questions, I was met with awkward and short reposnes that made me feel like I was asking silly questions or being bothersome by not simply accepting things as they were with the glasses. I repeated a few times while tentatively asking some of the questions i had that I was a first time wearer and didn't fully understand things - I felt I was very clearly in need of guidance as things didn't seem quite right when I first put them on, but kept being referred to the fact that it takes 4 weeks to get usef to them, that everything was fine as long as things weren't blury and not to close one eye as to check the prescription on the one lens that requires it. I was pretty flabbergasted by the experience and felt that my only option was just to leave with the unfitted, unadjusted glasses and muddle through. I didn't even want to ask whether I was meant to wear them permanently or partially in order to benefit from them if they were going to change the way my eyes work together which I still don't know and am not compelled to contact the store to ask.
I think it's unfortunate that I'm leaving this review as everyone else who I dealt with conducted themselves with excellence but I have been asked to be honest and in explaining my experience on that day, I am doing nothing else. I don't even really want to complain and I have not complained to to store. I will simply take the warning of this interaction and remove my business from Specsavers Pontypridd because I simply expected more care to be administered to something actually quite important and for the service I received here to be in line with what I had experienced from the city centre store.
To anyone thinking, like me, that the name above the door guarentees an equal standard of service from one branch to another - be warned, this does not seem to be how specsavers operates.
By the way, having seen the responses to other poor reviews, Specsavers, I do not have social media so please refrain from asking me to 'DM' you on Facebook or X. This is not a decent way to conduct business.

Welcoming from start to finish ,a very thorough eye test and every part explained, I would recommend specsavers to anyone thinking about an eye test ,up to date equipment and a knowledgeable team ,thank you .

I have been to Pontypridd Specsavers for over 20 years and they have had a brilliant service. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. I have now moved to Cardiff, but will continue to go to Pontypridd Specsavers.

I knew what I wanted before my appointment as I had used the online function which allowed me to see various frames and to show how I looked wearing them. I found the ones that I wanted almost immediately on the rack in the shop. The new glasses were back earlier than I had been told. They are just what I wanted and, I'm glad to say, I'm getting on really well with them.

Top class service from all staff at Specsavers as usual. If you want to see how customer service is done these days go to their branch in Pontypridd. Excellent care from start to finish - they really value their customers. Love my monovision contacts and normal glasses. Thank you.

I have been going to specsavers for years but they are a disgrace. Been having trouble with my eyes been going back and fourth from hospital to eye clinic but they couldn't do anything either. Specsavers are a waist of time when i last went for a checkup because my eyes were playing up the optician who was looking at my eyes had no clue what was going on even he is educated he did not seem like it. He was unprofessional he was asking me questions when i did not have a clue myself he was useless even when he was speaking i had no idea what he was saying he had no idea himself what he was doing. Then finally went to gwynss opticans in tonpandy the optometrist got my eyes better and he got my glasses sorted wont be going to specsavers ever agin i recommend everyone go to gwnss cheaper on glasses and better for eye problems.

I am with specsavers and had to go to them the other day as i injured my eye, i was seen as a emergency with specsavers eye triage in the pontypridd store, everyone was very helpful, respectful and professional, i was seen and treated very quicky as i had my 4 year old with me, the optician explained what was going to happen and explained every step through out, and once i was seen explained how to treat my eye injury in full detail, very happy with how they sorted my issue and thier professionalism, thank you
