Ive stayed at hotels in Africa and Eastern Europe but never one as dirty and smelly as this. Checking in was difficult as door locked at 1, 15 which was in one of two timeslots to check in. I had to enter through cafe next door and check iin on the bar. This are was run down and very smelly. Although breakfast was not included we did not fancy eating there. Room was just ok with kettle but no tea coffeee or milk. There was no hot water most of the time and sink bizarre approx four feet above the floor. Room not cleaned during our 3 night stay nor towels changed. There was no space to hang these after washing. I dont know how anyone can give this more than one star which is too high. Definitely wont return

This place should be condemned. I've stayed in some shady places but this one tops them all. It's filthy and smells . If I had a choice I would have ran for the hills . Thank god i only stayed 2 nights. In dire need of a clean and refurb. I know times are hard but give it a clean . Only plus side is location.

Didn't stay here but did join a group staying at the Middlegate for drinks and supper. Clearly needs some love and attention but can't fault the staff for going out of their way to make sure the group had a good experience. This included providing my coeliac husband with the best dessert ever. So thank you Middlegate and good luck with this hotel

Great location. Very friendly owners. Delicious breakfast. Room very clean, just a bit dated. Live bands every Wednesday. Highly recommended ?

? Cosy rooms on offer - with comfortable beds, ensuite bathrooms and basic amenities (tea/coffee facilities, tv, wi-fi, storage, etc). ? A very good start to the day with a full English breakfast provided daily ? which definitely hit the spot. ? Welcoming & friendly hosts made this a very enjoyable 3-night stay. ? Ideally situated on the Main Street - approx. 5 mins walk to the Castle (and National Express coach drop-off point) to the west, and approx. 5-8 mins walk to the Co-Op supermarket to the east (and opposite the road to the Coach House Hotel, being the National Express pick-up point). ? Also a 2-3 mins walk to the town hall, with bus stop on the opposite side of the road, for local transportation needs. ? Carparking available as well.

Service was average but the food and drink was substandard.

Just spent 3 nites at the middlegate hotel and had a lovely break. Arrived earlier than planned but that was no problem to Hailey who gave us a warm welcome and told us our room was ready anyway we then met Peter a great guy who booked us in and also took our breakfast orders and directed us to the carpark at the rear which is safe. & Secure entry by electronic gate. Peter met us there and showed us our room which was lovely large double bed and everything we needed.Having booked in early left us free to visit surrounding areas. When we arrived back Peter cooked an evening meal for us and nothing seems to much trouble for him and Hailey. Our breakfast each morning was lovely and set us up well for the day. Wednesday nite was open mic nite and bought out a good crowd which was great. We would have no hesitation in staying at the middlegate again when down Pembroke Great host's Peter & Hailey thank's for a great stay Eric & Lyn

The owner could do with learning some hospitality :D could have been amazing but he really sank the bag...

Only called in cafe for food, felt most unwelcome. There were cobwebs on the windowsill, and if we hadn't already paid, would have escaped, as a few other customers did.

Really lovely couple who run the hotel, very chatty and friendly and very accomodating with any things we needed. The room was clean and well equipped, it wasn't the fanciest hotel we've ever stayed in but such good value and we had a really good experience here. Also the breakfast was delicious! I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Great place to stay. Clean, friendly family running it and a bar / pub downstairs. Even live music on our stay. Free parking, easy to get to. On the main high street. Plenty of other amenities around. a minutes walk from Pembroke castle.
