The new layout by the tills is shocking ?. When are you going to listen to what the customer wants?

Fully stocked and even though it was very busy with Christmas shoppers the queue for the tills went down really quick. Staff were so lovely and professional it was a pleasure to shop there. Thank you ?

It's a great shop but difficult to get round at Christmas with staff restocking the shelves and the great big trolleys in the way. They aren't happy to have to move for trolleys, buggies or wheelchairs.

The bread are located at the floor level, where customer traffic causes it to be wiped by their clothes and bags, and I noticed it 4 times during 1 min when I was scanning my products. It is gross, unhygenic, and disrespectful to the customers who will buy and consume it

Now ALL self service tills. Queues of bewildered elderly people trying to catch the eye of the solitary staff member to help them. Scanning sounds too quiet so you don't know what's been scanned or not and can't read the screens as they're blacked out by the sun streaming in from the windows directly opposite. Can just imagine the carnage at Christmas ! No, I won't bother this year, thanks-but no thanks.

M & S food Hall at Friar's Walk, Newport, brags about how LBTQ+ friendly their store is
As a frequent visitor to this establishment, they are certainly not friendly to the cash paying customer!
There are 3 self service tills allocated to cash payers. One is almost always out of service unless by card.
The queue for cash payment is unacceptable & has begun to take on an air of apartheid towards those of us who insist on a cash service.

A small store but has most of the essentials. But opening times are odd. Close at 6pm on weekdays, not ideal if you are working and 3pm on Sundays.

We recently visited this M&S Foodhall on a visit to Newport city centre. The shop is smaller than Foodhalls but still sells a variety of different foods (some of which are not readily available in other supermarkets) and everyday household essentials. There is also a very small bakery section at the rear of the store and a small freezer section too.We found the layout slightly confusing and found the stock here quite limited compared to other M&S Foodhalls we have visited. We much prefer the layout of the larger Foodhall in the M&S at Newport Retail Park and find they also offer a wider variety of products. Most standalone M&S Foodhalls we have visited usually include an M&S Cafe but as this is a smaller shop it doesn't have one. There are plenty of others cafes and coffee shops within a short walk of the shop (including one right nextdoor). We tend to use the M&S app's 'Scan & Shop' feature in Foodhalls so don't usually need to use the tills but were shocked to see they no longer had staffed tills in this shop and had replaced them all with self-service tills.

Manned checkouts have been removed, meaning the only facility left are self-service tills.
