Visited today 11/08/25 - excellent service, delicious food, we were a table of 7, 4 adults [3 cod and chips, 1 fish finger sandwich], 3 kids. All excellent portions sizes and served quickly. Highly recommend.

We popped in while on our holidays, firstly it?s dog friendly which was a massive plus as we were travelling with our dog- our dog is anxious and barking a lot but he did behaved in the restaurant.
All staff were very nice and friendly.
We have ordered 3 fish and chips which came after very short wait , boiling hot ,beautifully crispy and main thing they were massive!
Prices very reasonable,(£12.95 for fish and chips)

From the outside you would think it?s a lovely little cafe to have a bite to eat different from the normal fish and chips. But inside is a different matter, staff were offish with us.
I asked for a chicken curry with rice, but that was off the menu. So we ordered a ploughman?s, only that was like no ploughman?s I?ve eaten.
Coleslaw was literally cabbage with some dressing that wasn?t at all nice.
Beetroot hummus!! Absolutely foul. And I love hummus normally. Some Picililli A chunk of cheese, some ham, which was the reason I gave 2 stars. And a piece of ciabatta bread. Not like any class of ploughman?s I?ve ever had.

One of the few places in New Quay that serves food all day
Went here a couple of times during our stay once for breakfast
They serve traditional welsh breakfast till 12 and again for fish and chips which was also very good
Also dog freindly

After placing the order for a salad and a ham baguette, waiting for at least 15 minutes for something that could have been put together in under 5 minutes. The alleged baguette was actually a sea batter roll and the ploughman?s salad was just thrown in the box with no care in the world the staff appear to be lazy, 5 members stood around. And the owner will not accept criticism. I would highly advise against this location for the fact the order was wrong it is over priced for what you get and considering there?s a chip shop over the road that?s ten fold better called captains chippy.

Had the pleasure of eating here. The staff are very polite and efficient.
I had Cod and Chips which was fresh tasting light batter and a good size. The chips were perfect and the TarterbSauce was out of this world. Well woth the money.
My wife had Scampi which was cook to perfection and she enjoyed it very much.
The place is super dog friendly and nothing is too much.
If you are in New Quey this is a must visit.

Bought food here tonight. Absolutely inedible. Fish was burnt, sausage was rock hard and the chips were hard. Complete waste of money for a family of 5. £40 down, and now on our way to another chip shop to get food that?s edible.

Hubby and I visited and were welcomed by a lovely member of staff, we had the fish and chips which were delicious. Really generous portions too. Very clean place, well run and would definitely recommend.

We had a Milkshake and Ice-cream tub.
We asked for a Strawberry milkshake and my partner had some chocolate ice-cream tub.
The milkshake was barely colder than room temperature, tasted like a bag of sugar and chemicals, 1 slip each and it went in the bin opposite.
My partners ice-cream wasn't much better, she said it tasted ok but the texture was gritty.
Save your money, go somewhere else

I come to New Quay every other week and would normally eat at a pub. This was the late May bank holiday Saturday so all of the pub tables were already booked, so I gave the Mariners a try. I've never sat inside before because I've always got dogs with me, but it turns out dogs are allowed in the cafe area!
This is a game changer for my New Quay visits. The food is basic and there isn't the full menu that you get at the takeaway next door, but it's well cooked, nicely priced and served with a smile. Exactly what you need on wet bank holiday by the sea!

Myself, partner and family have been coming to New Quay for years, sometimes 6-8 times a year and always visit the Mariners - just 3 weeks ago we asked to reserve a table for 12 as we had brought my partners extended family, spending nearly £200, needless to say we have spent a lot here over the years. Today, myself and my partner went to grab some takeaway coffees, but my partner went to use the toilet beforehand (who would take a coffee into the loo?). As she came back she was then angrily greeted by a lady on the counter (who we later found out to be the owner), asking if she was a customer as she had used the toilet. Before my partner could even explain she was using it before getting coffees, the lady just continued her tirade of verbal abuse, pointing her finger angrily and using unprofessional language. My partner explained we are regular customers to the establishment and had spent a lot here over the last few years to which the owner declared "so what? I don't care". Sadly, I will not be spending another penny at the Mariners now. I work daily with business owners all over the EU as part of my career and know that you are only as good as your customers. If you disregard and have no appreciation for custom, then you shouldn't be in business. A massive blot on an otherwise absolute gem of a coastal village and attraction. I won't holiday abroad as I prefer to help local economies and businesses (born just up the road from New Quay myself). If you're happy to hand over money to someone who doesn't appreciate your custom, go ahead. If not steer clear, they don't deserve your hard earned.
