Decent place to go for food and drink. Food was very nice and the staff were friendly. The only issue we had was they didn't come around enough to check if we wanted more food/drinks/the bill.

We were celebrating my granddaughter?s 17th birthday, There were 10 of us so we Pre ordered our meals, all 10 meals came together, the food was very good, we all had different meals and apart from all looking good, each person really enjoyed their meals. Cooked well, plenty of it and presentation was excellent. The service from Erica and her colleague was its class, we will definitely be back. Thank you for making our night.

The Horse & Jockey is a great place to go. It is right on the main road so finding it and parking is a doddle
Many other places don't allow you to get in close, we were about to park 10 metres from the entry
It is a good, old fashioned country pub that has managed to keep up with the times and maintain high standards - everything there is good, you can take friends or family out for a meal and be assured that you won't be let down at all
The parking outside is ample and the ground is flat
The interior is as beautiful as the exterior with old fashioned thick stone walls and a thatch-roof
The rear outdoor entertainment area has a great hillside of fields, it is a place that has bands and it would be great seeing a band here
Anyway, we had a great meal and coffee. The coffee was very good, far better than I expected. The meal was perfectly prepared and presented
Julian was an excellent service delivery person, worth his weight in gold. He was talkative and engaging, serving everyone promptly and in a friendly manner. He is an asset ?

Had a fantastic Sunday dinner today at The Horse and Jockey in New Inn, Pontypool with my dad, his partner, my partner and our 2-year-old. The food was genuinely outstanding ? proper hearty roast with generous portions and full of flavour. Everyone really enjoyed their meals.
Afterwards, we spent some time in the garden area, which was a lovely way to round off the afternoon. It?s a great space for families, and the little one loved having a bit of room to explore. What really stood out was the stunning display of sunflowers next door, thanks to the local farm ? they looked brilliant and added a really nice touch to the whole beer garden setting.
The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout, and the whole atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. We?ll definitely be back ? highly recommend if you?re after a quality Sunday roast in a welcoming local spot.

We were on a rare afternoon out without the kids. Headed to Cardiff where werr unimpressed with the crowds and cleanliness in all the bars!
Came here, much closer to home and what a treat. Only had drinks and chips. Service great from all staff. Lovely, clean pub tastefully decorated. Headed outside after a while, garden next to a beautiful sunflower field. Relaxing band playing, female singer with a lovely voice.
Only regret is we didnt find you earlier in the eve!

Came here on a beautiful sunny evening to celebrate a colleague's birthday. The staff are delightful and very happy to help supply forks and plates for the birthday cake one of the party had brought.
Pub garden stands next to a field full of sunflowers. Pub itself is attractive and clean.
I think the vegetarian food options could be more imaginative.
