Three of us had lunch yesterday. Once again we were treated to superb food and service. Each course of the tasting menu was creatively presented and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended and we will be returning.

A great experience from start to finish. We treated ourselves last summer while holidaying in the area and this was definitely the culinary highlight of our holiday. A memorable 8 course tasting menu with a very good drinks selection to accompany all the great food. The service was very friendly and efficient and we even had a really good chat with Andrew (chef and owner) at the end of our meal - both about the food and local area. The evening could not have been nicer, it's just a shame we don't live closer. Go if you can.

We stayed & dined here for New Year?s Eve. The room was great with quality amities and very nice Welsh cakes. The evening meal was fabulous, the set menu was well balanced and Andrew?s passion for quality and local ingredients showed. Rachel and the front of house staff are friendly and attentive. The rooms are very comfortable and we had a great night sleep. The following morning we had a great breakfast. Would highly recommended the rooms and restaurant. Will definitely return.

Five of us went to Checkers on Friday for the tasting menu, and it was fabulous. A roaring fire, great champagne to start. The food was amazing, and the matching wines just topped it off. It was a fantastic small restaurant, and for the quality of the food and drink, it was very good value. I can't believe the place isn't bursting at the seams. Definitely one to try.

Exceptional food and incredible service. We had both the tasting menu and vegetarian tasting menu. All courses looked and tasted delicious. It was a fabulous evening and will definitely visit again. Was a real treat and very special.

The food at Checkers was definitely 5/5 . The flavours and experience were superb. We had booked via their website and had only gone as I had been given £40 in vouchers by my work colleagues. There was nowhere to indicate on the site that we had vouchers but as we knew they would hardly cover the bill we didn?t worry. Also the voucher was bought from them so had been paid for in advance and was still in date. After a brilliant meal we went to pay and used our voucher. (£168 - £40) We were told off in a curt manner but they did grudgingly take the voucher. It left a sour taste on what should have been an excellent experience.

I had the pleasure of having a tasting menu lunch today and inspired to write about the Outstanding food from the canapés to coffee. It was beautifully presented and superb staff - a real joy. Thank you for the warm welcome and log fire.

Tasting menu and accompanying wines were a memorable experience to treasure.My wife said she?d never had such amazing Scallops. The whole menu was a symphony on our taste buds, perfectly cooked and presented. All I can say is, if there is someone in your life that you want to spoil or celebrate a special occasion, then go the extra mile, Checkers is the place for you.

THIS IN OUR FIRST VISIT TO MONTGOMERY SINCE THE NEW TEAM TOOK OVER AND THE FOOD WAS JUST AS DELICIOUS AND INTERESTING AS BEFORE AND THE HOSPITALITY WAS CHARMING AND FAULTLESS. A TASTING MENU EXCITED THE TASTE BUDS ON EVERY COURSE. FROM DELICATE SCALLOPS THROUGH PLAICE ON A RISOTTO BED, VIA SUMPTUOUS VEAL, TO SOFT LOCAL CHEESE WITH A HONEY TRUFFLE GARNISH AND A CHOCOLATE EXPLOSION IN THE MOUTH, DINNER WAS AS GOOD AS IT GETS AND WELL WORTH THE JOURNEY. CHECKERS IS BACK AND SO WILL WE.

We had the most wonderful evening of fine food and wine with impeccable service. Beautiful restaurant and bedroom. We will certainly return and would highly recommend this little gem.

An outstanding lunch at this lovely restaurant in the beautiful town of Montgomery, I was lucky enough to be my daughters guest and she had been very lucky to win this generous prize. The setting was relaxed and homely, the food was so tasty and so creatively presented it was almost a shame to tuck in, but glad i did as my tastebuds were certainly delighted, the wine was delicious too. Thank you so much for looking after us so well. I wish you much luck and success and will certainly be back for some future treats.
