Our food was delicious. We had 3 cod (which were very large and freshly cooked with a lovely tasting batter), steak & kidney pie, sausage, battered sausage, 3x chips, and a pot of curry sauce. There was a wait, but everything was piping hot and freshly cooked so that was fine by us. There wasn't an option to pay by card. Thankfully, we had some cash with us, as our order came to £38. We were given a large bottle of Pepsi on the house. I've added up to date prices in the photos.Parking: Lot of free parking spots, but still sometimes hard to find a vacant space.

Friendly staff and quick to order, always keen to support local businesses when visiting, but on visiting yesterday the fish (cod) had very little taste (either not frozen fast enough when caught or left unfrozen for too long), and chips were overly soft and soggy. While I understand taste is subjective, for anyone rating this highly at 6-7 quid a fish (which is standard fare) suggest you try any well rated fish and chip place to compare (may not be bad idea for owners too)

Always welcoming ? smiles and courteous staff from a family tan chippy ? fish is perfection in batter and can even phone order ready to pick up without queuing ? food cooked as required .. no overloaded waiting food that been there for ages and dried out ? fresh and always top quality ? myself and friends only use this lovely local place due to the regular standard and hygiene of the place ? prices are good value ? can?t say anymore ..Parking: Parking is easy right infront if the shop itself I have always been able to parkKid-friendliness: On a busy evening children were in the shop and the owners were chatting with them and made effort to ?serve ? the child not just the adults .. family orientated and welcomingWheelchair accessibility: Ground level and easy to access

Really nice food if you go early, Been late a few times and pies have been microwaved so soggy and gooey.not the biggest portions ever but enough. Just. But I do like a big fish or lots of chips ?Very friendly staff and always helpful and chatty.

We noticed the fish and chip shop by chance when driving through the village. Really impressed with the food. We had 2x fish and chips & 2x kids sausage and chips. The fish was ace, service was friendly and plenty of chips. I?m surprised in the negative reviews by others, ignore them & give it a go!

Over priced over cooked cold food Fish Chips Curry Sauce today real shame - if we hadn?t have driven off and eaten where we were at the caravan parkI?d have taken it back - love Montgomery but this was awful I?m sad to say

Walked out without purchasing..ordered two fish & chips & a tartare sauce.. Don?t sell tartare sauce at this fish & chip shop!! Offered to wait whilst fresh fish & chips were cooked?.didn?t do that either. The off hand young man showed me the chips he was going to sell me, soggy, not very hot & looking tired & old..I asked if they were full price ( which is not competitive anyway) & yes they were full price.. the thought of the fish was too much to contemplate so I left.. Wake up Montgomery Fish Bar, you?re letting this beautiful town & yourselves down. Unacceptable & not to be recommended.

Don?t have the salad in pitta - a quarter of an iceberg lettuce and half a sliced onion ?on? a pitta in sixteen pieces. Virtually inedible. The chips were OK.

The chips were crap the kebabs were dry and stale. Need a mortgage to afford this place. Avoid at all costs do not recommend at all

Being the only Fish & Chip shop in the town it's got pretty much a captive audience.For me the chips were decent enough, but the portion size and price not so.

Still crap, cash only, why? Annoying to say the least! How is this place tolerated in such a tight knit community, dedicated to local produce.

We were doing some work at home and could not be asked with cooking and thought we would try the local fish & chip shop for just chips [ to make chip butties ] not something we have very often but just fancied it The chips were not cooked enough really [ not golden & crispy ] like when I make them at home, had hardly any taste and were not that hot either, just really bland really, would not have again, which is a shame.

I was staying local with family and looked at the reviews which had me thinking I'd have to travel all the way to Welshpool to get decent fish and chips. I'm so glad I gave this place a chance, great fish and even better chips!
