Best place to stay if you are going to Bike Park Wales. Private car cark with security cameras. Lovely bar and restaurant. Food is generously portioned and the burger I had was delicious. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. Katie and her team were very welcoming.

Been here for food twice. The first time we were the only people in the restaurant. Waited an hour and 10 minutes for a starter and when it arrived it was completely frozen.Also went for Sunday lunch and some time after expecting there to be some improvement and every meal they brought out was incorrect.

We visited here for Sunday lunch as we heard it had been taken over an some reviews were positive , unfortunately this wasn?t a good visit . The restraunt was very quiet was only our table and one more we were made to feel like we were an inconvenience rather than paying guests who had come for food and drinks . We waited over a hour an half for our starters to come they weren?t to bad but then had wait a very long time for our food which we asked about 3 times an told it?s on its way , when the food arrived it?s was awful the whole plate of food was a Sunday lunch already plated up everything was cold nothing was warm the veg was over cooked an the meat also over cooked an like rubber , the cauliflower cheese was the worst I?ve ever seen it was just cauliflower that had been cooked in the littlest amount of sauce ever . Nobody could eat their food such a shame as the place is done out beautiful an the drinks an cocktails were lovely .

The room was clean and great. Allowed us to check in early. Really friendly staff. Car park available and outside beer garden. Great location for Merthyr Tydfil and Cardiff. Highly recommend.

We arrived at the hotel only to be told that the bar and restaurant were closed for refurbishment but we had been given no prior warning. The main entrance was closed and we had to use the fire exit to access our room. We came back one day, the fire exit was closed and there weren't any staff there, so we couldn't get in to our room.It turns out that the Windsor Hotel & Bar is a community run facility. This is a very good thing, but they should be upfront about it on the website so that guests can be prepared for things being less professional than you would expect from a commercial property.The staff were very friendly, but you would not describe them as professional.Our room was clean, bright and spacious.The hotel is very well situated for Bike Park Wales, the Brecon Beacons and surrounding attractions.The train station is a five minute walk, providing access to the pubs and restaurants in Merthyr. This is necessary because there are no other hospitality venues within walking distance of the hotel.I would recommend staying here because it is good for the local community, but do so with an open mind.

Visiting The New Windsor was a pleasant surprise, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The interior has been completely modernised and tastefully decorated with a lovely contemporary feel. The staff were welcoming and attentive throughout the evening and the food delicious. We wish this new venture every success.

Booked in for Sunday lunch. Waited an hour for food, could have been forgiven if busy but there were about 4/5 tables there. The table next to us had been waiting an hour and a half, and the gentleman was diabetic. Server spilt gravy on another table and on customers leg. When food did eventually arrive, it was luke warm, some items were cold in the middle, think the only reason it was as warm as it was is because the gravy was hot. Wasn't charged, and was offered a voucher, but would not be returning to use it. Would definitely not recommend

We use the hotel as our local pub. Drinks are good and well priced. Nice bar they have Thatchers Gold on tap, with 4 or 5 local bottled ciders in the fridge i think. The prime burger is fantastic, comes with salad and chips, girlfriend had the hanging chicken skewer kebab which was excellent as well. From what we saw all the food looked and smelled great. Staff are great, good atmosphere, a great place.

We stayed for 1 night with our 7 year old and upon arrival we were left feeling like more of an inconvenience than a welcome guest. The man at the desk knew nothing about us staying there so we had to wait for another person to arrive who wasn?t any more welcoming than the first and we headed to our room feeling quite put out. The room itself was clean and felt newly decorated. The beds were very wobbly and quite uncomfortable. We were told breakfast was from about 7am and if we wanted a cooked breakfast it would be extra and that would be available from 8am. We went down at 8am and the bar area was in darkness with no sign of anyone. There was a table with 4 crumpets and a few croissants on a plate, a few boxes of cereal and a bit of juice. The coffee machine was off and the water urn was also switched off. We had to rummage through the drawers with another guest to try and find some coffee which seems slightly ridiculous. Somebody showed up and seemed to be cleaning but she made no effort to offer and help until we asked for some water to put in the coffee machine and also some cups. All in all I we felt like the staff couldn?t care less about paying guests and we felt very uncomfortable. We will not be returning nor will we be recommending to our friends.
