“I grew up in Gellideg in the 1980’s, living in Lansbury Road before moving away to join the Army in 1989. Whilst there was a good community spirit there wasn’t really anything positive available for the community, especially those who really needed assistance. I now live in Bristol but still have family in Merthyr and many friends who still live in the ‘Deg’ and it’s so warming to see the effort of all those involved in the Gellideg Foundation Group. I regularly look forward to seeing in my Facebook feed all the offers of assistance, the events for young and old and the general buzz created by it all. Well done to all those involved, long may it continue!!”

“Wonderful people and wonderful cause.The volunteers are set up Mon-Fri unlike the other ones that are open less often and they help distribute their stock to other food banks.We dropped off some food and they were very thankful and hospitable. We were offered up coffee and biscuits which was a lovely gesture.This has inspired me to find my own local food bank and help out more often.”
