This dental practice ticks all the boxes for me. Although still registered with another practice, a long way away, I called Menai Bridge Dental Practice yesterday morning, after a crowned canine had loosened, due to the tooth fracturing. I was seen the same day by Ann Lu, who, after an initial examination and X-ray, advised me to go and to have some lunch, before returning for treatment. She discussed various treatment outcomes and options. She is very good at explaining every move and has a gentle and calm approach. She has one of the best needle techniques and made sure that the site was fully anaesthetized before proceeding. The crowned part of the tooth was easily removed, with it being explained that little tooth then remained for it to ever be re-crowned. Working slowly and carefully, and using an elevator, the long, thin tooth root was extracted intact and painlessly, and the wound plugged. I emerged feeling that the whole operation had not been an easy one but I felt more comfortable than after many previous extractions. The general atmosphere in the practice is of a very happy and friendly team, putting the best interests of the patient foremost. My wife and I have now registered with the practice, even though we have to travel about an hour to get there. Our local dentist retired many years ago and the firm that took over seemed to want to replace many teeth with expensive implants. We moved to another dentist who was really focused on preventative and restorative work. He spent his time working at a number of different practices, a couple of hours or more away from our home, so there were only a few days each month when he was in our area. After he ceased visiting that practice, we stayed with him at one of these other practices, a surgery two hours away, but we made pilgrimages there, as he was so good. When, some 18 months ago, our routine check-ups were cancelled without reason, we never re-booked and found out that we were not alone in experiencing a deterioration in service from that practice. The other local practice that we had used for many years could not take me on as an emergency case and is not taking on new patients, so I was delighted to be able to have such good treatment at short notice with Menai Bridge Dental Practice. This review has taken longer to write than my treatment yesterday. I declined to put a review on any BUPA-related site, as I feel my review should relate to the seat of treatment not the umbrella organisation.

Dr. Lu actively listened and engaged with the patient?s concerns during the consultation. Dr. Lu carried out a comprehensive examination and showed a high level of competency and professionalism. The building is very clean with modern facilities and the admin and support staff were very welcoming and friendly.
