Fabulous lunch today. Braised brisket of beef was perfect as was the Guinness. Loved talking to the locals they were so nice. The person who served us went the extra mile. Wordsoup on the quiz machine. Great day thanks team.

A modern take on a traditional pub. Good food and drinks and friendly staff. What's not to like.

Only popped into this place on my way to North Wales coast, but very friendly staff and a good range of drinks. Dog friendly and very much appreciated.

Another great meal at The Lion. Mushroom Andricni starter and scampi and chips main. Too full for a pudding. Scampi was just right.

We popped into the Lion Hotel most Fridays this summer for their excellent fish & chips. Two weeks ago after asking for a condiment that was missing from the sachet selection available on the table. was told as member of staff was actually walking away from our table ?if you look it?s in front of you on the table? I found this rather rude but decided to ignore the attitude. This week same member of staff was asked twice for vinegar we got no reply at all upon the third time of asking we were told in a raised voice ?I?ve only got one pair of hands? again this was as the member of staff was walking away from our table. Other diners were visibly shocked by this young ladies attitude at this point too. My husband calmly got up a quietly told her he did not appreciate her attitude and would not be eating or paying for his meal. The rest of our party did eat our meals but will unfortunately not return to the Lion Hotel. This silly girl has cost her place of work around £100 a week for our regular lunches. Later that day we found the same member of staff had been very rude to friends of ours too and that family have said they will not return again either. It?s a shame really because this hotels lounge/bar serves really tasty food in a very comfortable room with a nice relaxed atmosphere

We went here as we had a voucher to use from the currently closed sister venue, The Sun. 3 of us were booked in for Sunday lunch. On entering the building we weren?t sure which way we should go, no one was around. We went in to the bar and found 3 staff and a very quiet dining area. We booked in and ordered drinks and were shown to our table with menus. It was a pretty basic but acceptable choice of starters , main course and desserts. We all had prawn cocktails, which were ok but presentation left a lot to be desired. I had to go to the bar to ask if we could order food, this after a waiter had taken orders off another couple who arrived after us! Eventually 2 of us ordered beef, which was extremely overcooked and was dry. I had turkey which reminded me of the mass produced slices you get on corporate Christmas dinners. The veg was tough and lacked flavour. I had to disturb the chattering bar staff to order more drinks during our meal. The desserts were ok but nothing wonderful. We were glad we had a voucher to use as we felt very cheated out of a nice Sunday lunch - I could cook better myself! We expect a bit more effort not a no frills offering. Don?t think we?ll be back?..

The room was nicely decorated however the windows were filthy and had covered with cobwebs. Couldn?t open the windows, thought they would have put a fan in the room. I was disappointed to find that there wasn?t any toilet rolls, teabags and milk for the next morning. Had to ask for these items. Totally disgusted that the room wasn?t cleaned everyday. There wasn?t even a bin to throw your teabags and trash in. There was no hot water to have a shower. Certainly will not be staying there again or recommend it to anyone!

Do not use this hotel, the owner clearly has no clue. Had a meal and it was awful, could not eat it, clearly haven't got a proper chef. Runout of toilet rolls, no hot water. Had to shave and shower in cold water. Cobwebs on the window, No tea bags. Had to go and get some. Nobody cleaned or tidied the room. The only plus was the barman, who was very helpful but overworked.

Booked in for Sunday lunch. Been there years ago and have to say the refurbishment and I think, new management, has done this place a power of good - light and airy as opposed to dark, and dismal . The staff were polite and friendly. Sadly, these 'positives' did not make up for the below par food. The prawn cocktail starter was a (fairly generous portion of prawns on a large lettuce leaf (no slice of lemon, although I saw other tables being served the same dish with lemon) and a round of very stale bread. For the main course, I asked for well done Beef - it was certainly that!!!! 'Cremated' would have been a better description. It looked as though they had taken a blow torch to it! Whilst I like my veg firm, I take the exception to cabbage that takes quite a lot of effort to chew through. The wine (supposedly a Pinot Grigio) was vinegary although it was £7. 32 a glass!!! It was very disappointed . We are always on the look out for good eateries to take our visiting family, but sadly, we won't be going back.
