The tower sits on its own across the field and is interesting, but the best part is the old Manor house, which is in a courtyard shape. It's been decorated and furnished in the style of the era when it was in its heyday. Take an audio guide as you can choose how much detail you want. The access is good for motorhomes, but parking spaces are less than 6 metres so we were projecting out.

Loads of parking - motorhome friendly. Free entry with English Heritage (1 yr plus) membership, otherwise £8.70 admission. Far more here than we'd expected. There's the old castle and tower within ... a few steps inside the tower but mainly basement viewing only. Amazingly built - thick thick walls, huge tower, castle walls now surround a farmyard (I suspect some of the farms out buildings are made from the castle stone !). Not suitable terrain for anyone struggling with mobility as all grass walking and stones. Then there's the newer hall and courtyard. Lots of rooms to wander round, some furnished - all with information access points for the audio tour - which is well worth a listen whilst wandering. Stairs up allowing access to the balcony all the way round. Small gift shop, toilets etc (very modern), friendly staff. You can even get married here (there was a wedding whilst we were visiting). Picnic tables etc.

It's more interesting than people might think. I was impressed with the setup of the audio guide. The information surprised us. You think some sayings you hear have no relevance until you discover they are linked to events many centuries ago.Cafe is also good.

Hark, noble travelers, to yon Tretower Court and Castle,A tale of grandeur and history, I now unshackle. In Wales it stands, 'neath the azure sky,Llys a Chastell Tre-t?r, where time doth fly. With walls of stone that touch the heavens high,This ancient fortress doth reach for the sky.Its history, a tapestry of ages past,Tretower Court, a manor of elegance rare,Where nobles once gathered, their stories to share. In the midst of rolling hills, it finds its place,A destination for all, in every case.As the morning sun doth gently kiss the land,Stroll through the gardens, hand in hand. With flowers in bloom, a fragrant delight,'Tis a scene of purest and loveliest light.Within the castle's walls, history's whispers do dwell,In chambers and halls, tales to tell.Of knights and lords, their valor and might,In battles and feasts, 'neath the starry night.Oh, Tretower Castle, a fortress so grand,A sentinel of history, in this ancient land. From dawn till dusk, explore its stone,And in its echoes, find secrets unknown. To Tretower Court and Castle, a work of art.So, journey forth, let your adventure unfurl,In this wondrous place, where history swirls.

Had a lovely time at this little hidden gem. Went with hubby, the littles and the grandparents. Couple of steep steps to climb, but not too many, and my 4-year-old managed fine. They had a 14th-century medieval group in the grounds who were lovely and informative, and the set up in the Manor house was very impressive. Move out the way EH as CADW are doing a fabulous set up. Very imersive and nice to visit somewhere that tries to make you feel in amongst it all. Appreciate the effort they have put in and that they encourage you to touch and play.Lovely walled garden and the restaurant food was lovely. My only gripe was lack of highchair in the restaurant, no chocolate sprinkles on my cappuccino, and staff seemed a little flustered, but I think they were training someone up.Definitely recommend.

This is the remains of a monumental tower and a medieval fortified Manor House. The huge circular castle was built by Roger Picard who was of Norman heritage. The Manor House has been restored to its medieval glory, with depicted scenes within rooms allowing you to view what life consisted of within those walls. Not just the house, but the medieval kitchen gardens too. There is plenty of parking, a cafe, a gift shop and toilets. It is run by Cadw so there is an entry charge unless you?re a member, and half price for English Heritage members.

We had a nice 2 hour visit here. The staff were nice, friendly and talkative.Theres not much to the castle but a bit more to explore with the court part.Theres also toilets, gift shop and a cafe on site. Very clean and tidy and the kids loved it.Great value for money being a cadw member and we went down the road and onto blaenavon afterwards.

Both me and my partner enjoyed our visit today. We didn't make it over to the castle due to weather and my inability to make it safely over the grass. However we explored the court and it was just fantastic and we found a bat of whom we have named Barry the bat. Please enjoy the photos attached.

Came across this place while travelling down through Wales. Cared for by Cawd ( Welsh version of English Heritage). 2 places for the price of one. Restored medieval court house, set up as if the lord of the Manor was at home. You can explore the round tower ofthecastle, the rest of the site is privately owned. There is plenty of parking, toilets, gift shop & cafe / restaurant
