Great little pub. We stopped in for dinner (order at the bar!) and food was good and freshly made. Staff were friendly. Beer in excellent condition too.

After a fantastic walk along the canal, we stopped at the Royal Oak and enjoyed a delicious meal for six in the beer garden. The menu was extensive with plenty of choice, and every dish was thoroughly enjoyed. A lovely spot with great food and a welcoming atmosphere ? we?ll definitely be back.

Good food but unwelcoming owner that questions you parking and lady bar manager who I found rather ignorant. Not a traditional pub all food and goodbye.

Good pub, good choice of beers and variety of meals on the menu at reasonable prices. Good service from the friendly staff. We sat in the garden next to the canal as it was a warm day. We stopped off after a stroll along the towpath. Garden has steps.

I ordered homemade sweet potatoe, spinach and chickpea curry, which came with a small naan and half and half rice and home made chips. And it was lovely! Tasted fresh really enjoyed it (pub currys usually aren't the greatest but this was nice!!) It came quickly and was piping hot! And I had half a pint on inches cider and chocolate fudge cake with ice cream for dessert which was nice and it came to £22.70 so not bad! Portion sizes were good also. I ate it all ?
They were friendly on the phone, and friendly when serving me. There is a small garden out back overlooking canal with tables etc.
Honestly I'm usually sceptical of going out to eat in the whole of Wales as usually sometimes people decide not to be open or they decide to stop serving when they want to for the day (regardless of what it says online) and been really messed over endless times with it even when checking multiple times to see if it open amd serving (and my partner is from Wales and also agrees this is a common problem), and alot of the time food can be standard.
I also heard other people on other tables who were enjoying their food aswell.
I'll deffo be back for a mini camp break again before summer/autumn is over (I stayed at the capsite just 150yrds up the road) with my partner and come bk here for food! There were apple trees along the road aswell where I may or may not have plucked a few ?

Recommended by a colleague as a nice place to eat when staying in the area. Service was quick and staff were friendly. Nicest chips I've ever had! Binley Mega Chippy's chips aren't a patch on The Royal Oak!

Bloody fantastic! Food was excellent, drinks were stiff and our barkeep Sophie was a Gem. Thanks so much!!
Make sure to take in the atmosphere of the beer garden out the back!

Lovely little pub next to the canal. Warm and welcoming ( and dog friendly). We were camping in wales and had walked for over an hour to the nearest pub on the campsite?s recommendation.
We are disorganised chaos and by the time we arrived they had stopped serving food. We were obviously cross with ourselves, disappointed and hungry. The lovely owners took pity on us and rustled up some chips. We were so grateful as we had been walking all day and had another long walk back to camp. Their kindness was a blessing! ?
