I visited Barnacles Fish and Chips for takeout after seeing the reviews, but honestly, it was disappointing. The fish was soaked in oil, making it unhealthy and unpleasant to eat. I?ve had many fish and chips before, but this experience was really poor.

Normally (with my wife being coeliac) totally gluten free for health reasons I have always raved about this place in the past, this time it seemed different. It was rammed, chaotic, hot (but you can't help the weather) felt grubby and the takeaway was dimmly lit no sign of hair nets. (I used to run a Harry Ramsdens)
The chef was getting very stressed it showed and his mutterings didn't go unnoticed by myself.
Ordering took a while but that was to be expected.
That wait for food, again, was commensurate with the level of business.
Prices are competitive for fish and chips (especially gluten free) but there is a big lack of specials on the menu...
So finally the food I had (not gf) sausage chips and gravy and it was lovely although the chips were a bit pale for my taste the gravy was delicious but slightly runny.
Gluten free cooked to order in separate frier. Curry sauce was fine, chips pale but ok, and the fish was undercooked. Batter was doughy on the inside and fish pink and cool in places. (Obviously cook for time and sight, not time and internal temperature) I complained they offered another fish straight away but by this point my wife was put off her food so they refunded with no hesitation. (Hence the 5* for service)
Sadly Barnacles may no longer be our go too gluten free chippy in Llandudno!!!

Absolutely fantastic for our coeliac daughter. We all ordered from the gluten free menu and it was still by far the best chippy we've had for absolutely ages. We've finally found a gluten free gravy that the gluten eaters in the family like too! Nikita was brilliant in answering any questions we had and even checked the drinks for us to see if they had gluten in. We will definitely be visiting every time we're in Llandudno!

Lovely food. Didn't eat in the cafe, but have in the past and it is nice, friendly service too. Best thing about it is all the vegan options, lots of effort made. And it all tastes great :-)

Very disappointed, only giving them 1 star. Rip-off flat lemonade with ice overcharged! Make sure U get a can drink. They overcharged £2.80! Check your bill! Plenty nice places to eat. We went to LOVE TO EAT superb food with excellent service and good price.

Had a great meal at Barnacles yesterday. Ate in the restaurant portion therefore can't comment on the takeaway. Waitress was lovely with swift service and great patience!! The restaurant itself is nice and accomodating, with various vegan and GF options. Would 100% recommend visiting if you're in the area. ?

Didn't know where to eat and what cuisine we fancied. Settled for barnacles and we had small fish and chips with mushy peas. It was good. Tea was tasty too.

Food (scampi and cod roe) pretty average. Probably the cod and chips would be loads better. Also made me wait 20 minutes even after checking twice as others had their orders served. Didn't give me my curry sauce even though I paid for and asked for it.
