More a shop of vintage and collectible children’s books than a bookshop for children. Interesting selection, with many of the unusual set texts from primary school in the 1970s and 80s.

Excellent little shop, just sorry I can't visit all that regularly due to the distance. Wonderful stock, exceptionally tidy and fantastic location - it genuinely feels like a little cottage from a fairy tale. Parking is limited but being away from the main town means it's usually fairly quiet.

From The Children's Bookshop
Just north of Hay on Wye on the Clifford Road (B4350), a few hundred yards beyond the Co-op supermarket, and one hundred yards beyond the Glan Wye Business Park.
We hold a large and varied stock of over 20,000 books, covering all aspects of children's literature.
Our catalogue is available on-line, allowing you to browse the many thousands of books which we have in stock and place orders.
We have a small car-park plus extra roadside parking adjacent to the shop. The shop is accessible with care to wheelchairs via a removable entrance ramp, but not to mobility scooters.
There is free guest access to WiFi, with a daily password displayed inside the shop.
We also offer online sales, and a world-wide postal service.
