I didn?t have the food, but the drinks are excellent and a lovely beer garden out back! The food looked amazing!

We recently hosted a gathering with our British & Italian families and had dinner at the Blue Boar. Scarlet was super helpful and she booked for us the perfect table for the occasion and provided us with a menu a few days in advance in order to have the dinner ready shortly after our arrival. The service as usual was spot on and the food quality along with the care they take in tailoring their menu just made the event memorable. We will definitely come again whenever we are in Hay-on-Wye for some nice food and drinks. Thank you!

London prices in mid Wales.
The obsession with sourdough bread is almost funny

Great local pub in Hay, one of my two favourites. Cosy in winter, nice garden in summer

Dropped into The Blue Boar for some lunch whilst visiting Hay-on-Wye and it didn't disappoint. Lovely decor, proper old fashioned pub, and the food was absolutely top quality. I had a sandwich with pork belly and ham, my girlfriend had the Welsh rarebit, and both were delicious, with the best chips we've had in a long while. A highlight of our trip!

Lovely pub, friendly staff. I was however very surprised to be charged more than £16 for 3 drinks. Only one of which was alcoholic.
Ask the price first!!
(They won't tell you the cost)

I love going here all the time. The staff are nice, the food is nice and the atmosphere is very cosy. I would recommend this pub to any new comer to Hay as it is a very nice place to eat and plan your day.

Great beer garden, however a bit disappointed with the tables not being cleared for the entire time we were there! Plates and glasses on nearly every table & we were there for 3 hours! Does not reflect the prices, very disappointed ?

Well what can one say, except that we highly rate the food served to myself and my partner Joanne.
The menu isn't exactly cheap and wide ranging, but what they do serve is extremely high quality and full of flavour (10 out of 10). I personally would recommend The Blue Boar to any of our friends or family members, excellent.
Thank you and we will be visiting The Blue Boar again, guaranteed.

Got served a milk coffee instead of an oat coffee .... Then asked for a dairy free vegetarian meal they said they would make me a massive salad with hummus ended up with pesto ( not dairy free) 2 tomatoes 1 radish and 2 olives and a spoonful of hummus and a roll..... This cost 18 pound.... My drink despite getting the wrong one cost 4.90 ... I complained about the pesto the serving staff were the most vacant people I've ever seen in my life and I had to pay the most insane amount of money for a tiny amount of food and having consumed dairy after I asked to not have any plus a lump of butter on my plate. Actually shocking ?!!! The worst place I've been to maybe in my life. Fuming. Avoid at all costs.

Leaving a -1 star review. Charging £780 per pint but no ramped access from any of the three entrances! Food slammed down in front of customers, not just by ourselves.
