I will try it again soon but we did get cold food which had to be taken back. Lots of apologies and I hope it was a one off. Good atmosphere and great

Excellent food, very tasty and great value for money. Freddie and Craig (Landlords) are both welcoming and friendly providing a very pleasant Sunday experience. Would highly highly recommend the roast partridge and treacle tart! Will 100% be visiting again!

The Rhydspence is absolutely marvelous! From the food to the cozy atmosphere, Craig and Freddy have created a real gem. While on vacation in the area visiting family, we came down four separate times in one week, including one night where we showed up last minute and they were able to accommodate us. The Sunday roast was delightful and the sirloin was cooked perfectly. Do not miss out on the steak haché, the peppercorn sauce is so robust and rich. The tiramisu is one of the best I?ve ever had with the espresso jelly. From start to finish, just an exceptional experience and service.I cannot wait to visit again!

Had my Birthday dinner there yesterday. Booked last minute, but the table was ready when we arrived Everything was perfect. The staff couldn't have been more attentive. I had the beef and every element of the meal was outstanding. I must mention the gravy. So, so delicious. Definitely none of your gravy granules there and the beef was cooked to perfection too. All was spot on. Can't wait to go back.

What a special place. Craig and Freddy will make you feel so welcome from the moment you arrive. An incredible selection of drinks and the most wonderful food. You can enjoy it all whilst sitting by the roaring fire and taking in the spectacular views. There is such a cosy atmosphere and the history of the building is fascinating. An Inn with the biggest heart - not to be missed. We can?t wait to go back again!

Called in for an un-booked meal on a Saturday and enjoyed absolutely impeccible service and an interesting, unusual menu. Also enjoyed a pint of delicious regional cider with the meal which was different but very enjoyable. Admire the efforts of the restaurant and chef to create different offerings. Last but not least, met Horace the Poodle whose friendly attitude was fully in keeping with the other members of the team. Bravo. Under new management so best of luck to them.Food & drinks: Unusual and interesting choices - all enjoyable and successful.Noteworthy details: Faultltess service from host.

Stayed here for a couple of days during a holiday to Wales. It?s a beautiful historic location with stunning views. The staff are welcoming and helpful. Our room is cosy and decorated with paintings of the Inn from different historical periods. The breakfast is amazing. I had the veggie (which could easy work as vegan if you forgo the egg) and my husband had full English, and both were excellent. Inn is conveniently near other pubs and Hay-on-Wye. Highly recommend!

The food was excellent, not many veggie mains but those which were offered were very good. The service was great, and the building itself is fascinating. Well worth a visit if you're in the area!

Went for food with my family and to start the parking situation was very small. This is however understandable due to the lack of space. We entered the building and were confused as to whether we were to go to the bar or wait for someone to seat us. This is where the first mark was lost as the server walked past us multiple times and didn?t offer us any help. The barman seemed like he didn?t want to be there. He was informed that someone had left a phone on top of a car to which he responded ?that?s annoying for them? rather than getting the phone and leaving a note he just didn?t care. Finally was the food which tasted amazing however there was a lack of it. We asked for an extra dish of vegetables as there were 5 of us and we were told this wasn?t possible which meant minimal food for us. We even laughed about the way we were declined extra veg as there was so little for the high price point.Overall good food, expensive for the quantity of food. Would I go again? Yes if comments were taken as constructive criticism and worked upon.Pictures show all the food was eaten and more couldve been eaten

We came here for dinner as a family of four. It had a lovely atmosphere and we received a warm welcome from the owners and servers on arrival. We arrived on a very cold evening in February and the fires were lit and it was so cosy.Good menu choice and drinks options - we tried a couple of the local beers which were good, staff were attentive and very friendly and we service was very quick, very reasonable prices for all. The food itself was very tasty and great portion sizes. If in the area again, we will definitely stop in here again! We came away very happy and thoroughly recommend!

Lovely place. Recommend it. Ancient and attractive. Good beer, cost atmosphere, friendly hosts. Close to Hay on Wye. I would love to learn about the history of the place and visit it again. Set in its own grounds.
