Very friendly small hotel with comfortable rooms in a beautiful location; mountains one way, beach the other and a castle thrown in for good measure.

I decided to stay at this hotel because I'd had a lovely experience the last time four years ago. The previous owners had built up a wonderful business at Y Branwen. The place is very different now. The current owner is a very unfriendly man completely devoid of a personality and couldn't care less about his guests. The customer service is nil. Everything is an imposition to him. Fawlty Towers but without the comedy. It is the worst hotel I have had the misfortune to stay at. All the negative reviews on Trip Advisor I agree with. He takes your card details for the deposit over the phone and then 11 days before we were due to arrive he takes the balance without your permission, very unprofessional. It is not a dog friendly hotel in as much as he couldn't care less about the guests dogs. He has two large Huskies which are lovely, but very intimidating to other dogs as they are they are roaming free. They barked and howled at my dog. We telephoned before we arrived and asked about this to which he specifically told us they are kept behind the bar. When we arrived and asked him if he could move them so we could get past to our room. He was very rude and snapped back" it's their home and they go where they want, you knew this when you booked..." Why lie to us before. We definitely wouldn't have gone otherwise. Just a very horrible experience all round. Avoid this awful place. It puts the beautiful Harlech to shame.

Rushed in and out within 40 minutes ? from initial drinks at the bar upon arrival, through to end of meal.Food was very average and starter course portions were meagre.Drinks were over-priced relative to other local restaurants we visited during that week. Total bill was higher than all other local evening dining restaurants we visited. For reference and comparison, The Norbar and Y Sgwar restaurants offered a significantly better experience, both in terms of their food quality, ambience and customer experience and would happily recommend to others and revisit them both again, without question.Felt as though we had been short changed, both financially and in terms of our evening experience - this certainly wasn?t worthy of £100 dining!Feel a bit foolish for not taking the time to read the earlier comments from previous customers on Trip Advisor. I read feedback comments that pretty much mirrored our terrible experience ? which left me with a sinking feeling afterwards.I do not understand the sense of this business model, as I would never wish to revisit Y Branwen or recommend it to anyone else? Short-term, maximum gain, I guess.I?ve learnt a uncomfortable lesson ? please learn from me and spend your hard-earned money elsewhere!

My fiancé booked me a 3 night stay as a surprise birthday present and our stay was perfect. Our room was clean, cosy, with a view over the golf course and a comfy bed to collapse into after a long day of walking. The staff were beyond accommodating, incredibly pleasant and helpful with information about the local area. The food was exceptional, I ordered the home made burger and wow.As for the location. Settled right beneath the cliff with Harlech castle overlooking, 10 mins walk from the beach and only a short drive to waterfalls and Snowdonia. This really was perfect. Thank you to the staff for giving us such a brilliant time.

Absolutely fantastic service, fantastic burgers, fantastic beers and the man who runs the place is dare I say fantastic The menu is well curated by the chef, who knows what he?s doing and makes everything from scratch to high standards. It is by far the best place I?ve been to in this area. I would ignore any negative reviews of this place, I?ve read them and they are all frankly out of order! If you are looking for a nice quiet place with good food, a wide selection of drinks aldrin beer to gin and other spirits then this is the place for you. Also, a wealth of knowledge concerning Snowden , logistics and taxis.

Not a very friendly welcome from the owner, my friend's dog feels intimidated If another dog gets close. This was explained when booked. On arrival, the 2 big huskies (although lovely) were wandering around the reception area. I was told when booking that the dogs stayed in the bar area. When asked if he would just move them whilst we checked in he replied "well you knew this was a dog friendly hotel when you booked, the dogs (huskies) Can go where the like it's their home) My friend had to carry his dog past them. Room was nice and clean as was the bathroom. We had arrived late as the traffic was awful, we had phoned pryer to. This and explained. When we came down from putting our bags away. We were asked if we wanted a drink in the bar, we declined and asked if we could go through to dining room. We where then told the restaurant closed at 7.pm and we had 5 minute"s to order our (pre_booked). Meal. ???? Ordered a tagliatelle in a creamy mushroom, courgette and cognac sauce My friend had a beefburger that was so small that you. Wondered if. They had hardly enough meat left to make it, they must have been running low on potatoes too as he only had about 7or8 chips. Getting. Back to my meal----- well what can I say? They must have run out of courgettes too. As I didn't have any. The thing I couldn't work out is why there was no cognac in my meal? it's not as though there isn't a well. Stocked bar. I mean they state to have a well stocked. Bar with hundreds of different "gins" and spirits. Breakfast was nothing special, 1 piece of strange tasting bacon, 1 sausage (ok) mushrooms nice, egg good beans in a tiny dolls house size pot. But they tasted nice ( I wonder if their hienz?)

Attracted by ?adults only?, love dogs, but not barking on the landing at 1am!!! Host very friendly, sadly didn?t ask us how our night was or we?d have explained. Room needs a good clean, dead spider next to bed, dust/cobwebs on light fitting, mattress? need changing. Even an old shoe under the bed! Shower ok. No view? in fact the only view is room 5?s window and a wall (kept curtains shut) Breakfast was good though! £125 per night we felt robbed, wouldn?t stay again

Nice friendly staff, on the main road thru Harlech. So very easy to get around the area and the national park. Decent rooms and excellent service. All I'd say is it's right by what once was the steepest recorded road in the world so careful driving needed.Nearby activities: Harlech is a delightful, tourist friendly town. Good for a relaxed time, slow wanderer sort of trip. Nice little shops, interesting Castle with great views. Friendly cafes and pubs.

May as well be called the £50 pub. 1 Guinness and 1 vodka lemonade was £20! Shocking. I know we are in a cost of living crisis but even that is daylight robbery.Really friendly staff but far to overpriced for what it is.

Inside this place is fine but very uninspiring on arrival and you can only check in between 4 and 6 pm. In fact this place is quite amusing with its rules ! Inside is quite pleasant and felt clean. There are 2 huge dogs that you have to step over. It says it is adult only and dog friendly - it certainly is !! We had room 4 which is one of the bigger rooms and it was comfortable and clean. A superking bed but small ensuite with a very small shower - but it did a job. However if faces a fairly busy road so take ear plugs. For a quieter room ask for one at the back. There is a very good tea tray but beware if you want more supplies you can only get them when the bar is open which appears to be between 5 pm and whenever they decide to close which was 7.30 when we were there !! And that was early August ! So if you want to enjoy the gin venue - be quick !! The breakfast was very good and service pleasant. Would I stay again ?? Uhm - not sure. It was ideally placed for us so probably would .

Nice big room & bed, very comfy, slept real well. Nice breakfast, friendly & helpful staff.Decorating a little tired would be my only criticism, but didn't affect our stay.
