If I could give this place a zero, I would! The run up to the wedding was great, but the day itself was absolute carnage. We'd asked for the hog roast and for the meals to be prepared in a nut free area as a few if our guests have severe nut allergies; the meals came out, all topped with crushed peanuts, leaving a number of the guests without food for the evening and having to avoid people who had eaten the meals, when staff were asked about the crushed peanuts, a member of staff said "oh, we weren't aware that peanuts were nuts" ... They then offered the guests without meals a complementary drink ... Of Amaretto, a nut based liquor! At this point, it was obvious they were mocking our guests for having a life threatening allergies. As for the hog roast? What hog roast? They gave us 6 slices of precut beef In foil. What a joke. Then there's the stealing; at some point during the evening, the staff took it upon themselves to move our personal belongings (without our permission) and the belongings of our bridesmaids and groomsmen. My husband and I noticed personal belongings missing and our bridesmaids and groomsmen noticed money, cufflinks, expensive whiskey (gift to groom), jewellery missing. We went back a few days after our wedding and asked if they had any CCTV to find out what happened and the manager threatened to call the police on us. In addition to this, we paid for accommodation for ourselves and a few of our guests; it was absolutely filthy and dangerous to walk in the dark, lots of trip/slip hazards. We had one guest break her foot walking back to her accommodation, she asked reception to call an ambulance for her and she called the manager, who told her no, that someone from the wedding would have to take her because they didn't want to look bad having an ambulance arrive at a wedding venue! They asked our DJ to pack up and leave at 8pm without any explanation. The staff were also caught yelling in my cousin's face and bullying him for have down syndrome; when confronted, the pair simply laughed and said "whatever, we're bored of him now anyways" when the manager was confronted with all of this days after our wedding, all we got was a simple "what do you expect me to do about it".We paid for things we didn't get, our guests were bullied, terrorised and kicked for their differences and stolen belongings were never recovered! Please, go somewhere else, they take pride in ruining your big day and they do it without remorse!

I honestly don't even know where to start. We got married at Gellifawr on the 28th September. It was honestly our dream venue from the moment we arrived last August. The team really do go above and beyond to make sure your day is as special as can be. Our dog Calvin took centre stage and even Vino our horse came along with absolutely no questions asked - this really is a super pet friendly venue! There was nothing that was too much trouble and the day ran so smoothly, mostly thanks to Emma, as the day really does go by so quickly. The food was honestly amazing, staff were super helpful, polite and welcoming and the grounds were outstanding and all our guests commented just how beautiful our day was. Thank you to the whole team at Gellifawr for making our wedding dreams come true.Mr & Mrs Mcintosh

Overall the venue was perfect for what we were after for our day- an exclusive venue with beautiful outdoor and indoor options, plenty of accommodation, and the location. Gellifawr gave us a wonderful day celebrating with all our family and friends. The wedding coordinators allowed the day to run smoothly and all of our guests had a great time. There are a few things we feel other couples should know before booking however. When we booked, it was sold as a bespoke venue, but when actually creating the bespoke elements this caused a lot of stress and it was inconsistent in the prices/options. For example, drink prices, drink and menu choices. There were challenges with communication, as often dealing with multiple people on the generic account, and with different things being said in person and then on email. On the day the bar was understaffed, and once the main coordinator left in the evening it became disorganised. At times we were made the feel like just another couple on their conveyor belt, such as they changed the check out time without informing us as the next day there was an early morning wedding. We were also told the bar would be open until 1am, which was closed early. They need to keep sight of what makes Gellifawr special, and to not compromise the quality for quantity.

Gellifawr Woodland Retreat is an excellent venue for Wedding celebrations. Having recently visited for a Wedding Celebration weekend and everything was perfect although the weather was not the best it did not detract from this beautiful Centre. If you are not using the accommodation in the Big House, cottages around the area are ideal and appointed well. Ideal in this setting.Seren Yn Codi the room the Wedding ceremony took place followed by Welcome drinks under the Tipi. Then into the Manor House dining Suite where the wedding breakfast was served and the cutting of the cake. Lots of areas to sit and feel comfortable to enjoy a drink and a chat. Indoor bar and outdoor bar under the tipi are excellent. Staff are friendly and welcoming. What a wonderful weekend I had. I would recommend. No cash accepted card payment only.

We recently had our wedding at Gellifawr Woodland Retreat and had the best day. We wanted a relaxed, intimate day and Gellifawr provided just that. Throughout the whole process the co-ordinators and staff were amazing, from our first visit on the showcase, to answering emails and questions we had very promptly, to organising the whole day so beautifully and even after the wedding. The venue was set up exactly how we?d imagined, the food was delicious and the day ran so smoothly. The grounds are stunning and we were fortunate enough to have our ceremony under the trees and our reception under the canopy. The accommodation and the facilities were amazing, with both the salons being particular favourites of ours! We had the most magical day and have since recommended Gellifawr to other brides and grooms to be. A truly amazing experience, thank you! x

Amazing venue for a wedding, the staff are well rehearsed in ensuring the day goes smoothly. Amazing food, very courteous staff, well maintained buildings. A choice of breakfast would have been nice but otherwise we were very impressed with this place.

I recently attended a friend's wedding at Gellifawr woodland retreat, and it was an enchanting experience from start to finish. The remote location tucked away in nature's embrace added a fairytale-like charm to the entire event, making it feel like a truly special occasion. The wedding day was nothing short of fantastic. The serene surroundings and lush greenery provided a picturesque backdrop for the ceremony, creating a magical atmosphere that left everyone in awe. The evening celebrations were equally enchanting, with the twinkling lights and cosy ambience of the venue creating a warm and inviting setting for all the festivities. The staff at Gellifawr were friendly and accommodating throughout the day, ensuring that everything went smoothly. From assisting with the decorations to attending to guests' needs, they were always on hand with a smile, making the day even more enjoyable for everyone. While the wedding day itself was unforgettable, there were a couple of minor issues that arose during our stay. On the morning after the wedding, we discovered there was no hot water in the cottage we had booked for the night. It was a bit disappointing, especially after paying a considerable amount for the accommodation. When we brought this up with the staff during check-out, they seemed uninterested and didn't offer any assistance or solutions to the problem, which left us feeling a little letdown.Additionally, the breakfast served the next morning was a full English buffet style. However, the staff only provided one item of each option, which felt limiting and not in line with the cost per night per person. It would have been nicer to have the freedom to choose from a wider variety of items.Despite these minor hiccups, the overall wedding experience at Gellifawr woodland retreat was brilliant. The magical location, friendly staff (apart from the check-out issue), and love-filled atmosphere created an unforgettable celebration for the newlyweds and all the guests. I will cherish the memories made at this lovely venue and would recommend it to anyone seeking a romantic and secluded wedding destination

Attended for a family wedding- the bar/wedding areas are beautiful! However the bedrooms/cottages could do with a serious revamp and update! A family of 6 we had a 3 bedroom cottage. Firstly the decor is old and worn, it needed a facelift. Secondly we had no full length mirrors in the whole cottage- an issue people in other cottages also had. As a wedding venue it?s obvious people will be getting ready for a wedding and will need mirrors. There?s plenty of space for mirror to be added. Thirdly- our shower stopped working after 2 of us had a shower. Whilst the venue were very good at compensating us for this it was quite a large inconvenience. Beautiful wedding venue, great food and lovely area. Just a bit of an update in the cottages and this would be perfect.

What an amazing, beautiful venue for the wedding of my daughter and husband. From the minute we arrived everyone concerned were courteous friendly and extremely helpful.Nothing was too much trouble. They even set up the outside woodland area for the ceremony with only 2hrs notice, as there was a break in the weather after days of rain! The food was delicious and plentiful the whole of the stay. All our guests loved the cottages which were warm and cosy, many wanting to stay longer! A big thank you to Beth who answered our many queries and steered us beautifully through the day. All guests agreed the travel to Gellifawr, from many parts of UK and beyond was certainly worth it, for one of the nicest, relaxed wedding in beautiful surroundings they had been to! Thank you so much yo everyone at Gellifawr!x
