What a fantastic bunch of people work at the mary dillwyn in fforestfach.
So friendly from beginning to end, in fact we were the last to leave but weren't pressured into leaving after we'd finished our meal.
We were served by Sam. What a character. He was friendly and knowledgeable and made a good night even better. He was extremely patient with us especially at the end.

Not at all comfortable as it was quite cold where we were seated and fellow diners were eating with their coats and Jackets on so this was already a negative experience!!!myself and 3 friend's chose the lunch menu for 2 courses at £15 -50 which at first seemed good value for money,however when the meals arrived with 3 of us ordering the same we were all very disappointed with the portion size and the lack of presentation. mine in particular was a rump steak as were the other 2 order's but looked more like a small lamb chop and it created laughter amongst my friends as they thought the order was wrong and I had ordered a lamb chop !!!!it was full of grizzle and I couldn't eat it .we all looked at each other as we were shocked at the amount of chips we all had which led us to count them to our disbelief the most amount of chips one person had was 9 on the plate,not even representing 1 potato.appreciate there was another course but again the portion size was unbelievably small. Once beverage of a coffee added total amount was £21-85 .100%not value for money. came out still feeling hungry and definitely overpriced. won't be coming back and will be advising family and friends not to visit either.

Outstanding service!
Really felt the warm friendly atmosphere from staff and the food was absolutely delicious! I phoned to ask if I could have the lasagne on a sunday due to being a fussy eater and the manager personally put one aside for me so I'd be able to order one even though it wasn't on the sunday menu. We will definitely be dining there again. I'd recommend Mary Dillwyn all day long xx

First time visit with the family on a Sunday and have to say we were very impressed and thoroughly enjoyed.
A clean, well-decorated and spacious area greets you on entering - tables are not on top of you like some places!
We had 3 x Trio Roasts, 1 x Beef Roast and 1 x Hunters Chicken - all well-presented and tasty meals. The red wine gravy was lovely!
Desserts could not be ignored with people tucking into apple and cherry crumble with custard or the Chocolate Brownie Sundae!
A lovely afternoon where you felt very cosy as you watched the rain run down the windows.
Nothing was too much trouble - extra gravy was provided, no problem.
We will be visiting again and would highly recommend a visit.
