charming small pub with home made meals, vegetarian options as well. A nice pint in front of the wood fire. Id recommend anyone to stop by, especially after an adventure in Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Lovely little pub, lovely home cooked food, very reasonably priced, if I lived in the area it would definitely be my local. My only criticism would be that there are just a few too many cobwebs hanging around, oh and better wine would be a bonus.

A solid, quality pub. Pints were fairly priced. The bartender and locals were friendly and chatted a bit. A wood fireplace added a friendly, natural warmth. There is a pool table. Couches were comfortable. Fast wifi. All in all, I enjoyed it and would come back when I'm in the area.

A real pub with real people, packed with big characters. Welsh is the first language of the village and is used freely in the pub, however, everyone is included and welcomed. Beer is really well priced for those wanting a bargain, less than £3 for bitter and the homemade meals are great value with the best chips in Wales, basic but tasty and plentiful. Spent two evenings here and I loved the place and the people, they don't make an effort to include you just feel immediately included. Great banter. There was a wide spectrum of people from a Scouser to a Czech lady and English settlers, In this mix the Welsh language was alive and well. The free-flowing humour between everyone gave the place its infectious character. Particular thanks to Peter and Sarah who run it, (Sarah's chips were slightly better :)) Ellen the barmaid was such great fun. If you would go to Paris and drink in an Irish bar then this place may not be for you, if you want to go to Wales and drink in a proper pub with proper people then roll your sleeves up and go in for a couple of pints, it will be an experience!

Visited this traditional country pub on the day we were viewing a property. So welcoming we stayed for dinner. The home cooked dinner was so nice I ordered it again and had seconds!! No comparison to the month we've just spent in America, dreadful food. Since been back and spent many hours and dinners here, we're almost locals now haha. Yes the fag butt's outside are dire but that's down to disrespectful smokers that think it's acceptable!

Came here for dinner on the off chance there would be availability since we couldn?t get through to book on the phone. We arrived and were told it would be a 40 min wait for food, since 1 table of 4 has ordered before us? We got drinks to pass the time, served with sparing ice but fine all the same.Fortunately the food arrived in under 30 mins, but unfortunately it wasn?t up to the standard expected. The curry was ok, but looked very unappetising and the lasagne was clearly reheated under a grill and looked past its best. Portion sizes however were decent.Coming from a small village, it?s obviously valued for its charm and authenticity but I wouldn?t recommend it as a regular stop. Probs won?t be returning.

Very friendly, locally run, village pub with good food and good beer. Can't go wrong with a stop here before or after a hike.

Very friendly pub - relaxed crowd of locals. I hadn?t had a drink in this pub for nearly 50 years but it soon felt like yesterday- although they had moved the dart board in the interim! Good value - great pub food - fun night!

Such a shame as this little village pub has huge potential. Seriously lacking in some TLC, decor, cleaning. Everywhere we looked were cigarette ends, weeds, general disrepair. If you're going to have hanging baskets, weed them and put flowers in! Or take them down. The pub was full of dogs, and being only a small place, it felt like we were trapped in a kennel. Food was very below par and although it's menu says 'homemade' I doubt that very much. Personally I'd sack any cook that declared that as homemade. I'd know boil in the bag rice and tinned meat anywhere. The bread was so hard I'm sure I've chipped a tooth! The vegetarian option had probably been found at the bottom of the freezer and tasted and smelt quite old. As there are quite a few excellent reviews, maybe the regular cook was ill? But I'd never go again. Worst meal out we've ever had.

Meeting long lost family from the States staying in the village, we were tired after a long day visiting local sights, and so settled to eat at Y Gwydir. I'd not been there for about 10 years and was pleased to see how clean and well decorated it was. It busy with locals in the bar, and lovely to see Ellen, whom I'd known many years before, coping so professionally behind the bar! Our food was plentiful, and mine certainly well cooked - my cottage pie was more than enough for me, and was the very best I had ever eaten! The only very minor downside was that they had run out of peas to accompany it, so I had to settle for sweetcorn, of which there was far too much! If I'd thought at the time, I would happily have run over to the village shop opposite and brought back a pack of frozen peas!!

Lovely pub, spend just over an hour here. The kitchen wasn't open when I visited at 3:30pm, but they still offered to make me some gamon and chips. It was delicious and very reasonably priced.

Lasagne highly recommended! Homemade with homemade chips and very pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was. Very satisfied customers
