Many good points. The build quality, inside and out, of this new hotel (only opened in April 25) is of the very highest order. Attention to detail leaves nothing to be desired. Fantastic grounds and terrace. Our only gripe really was with the size of the room and the bed therein. We are not overly large people but we found the room quite pokey and the bed was the smallest we've ever been given in a hotel. Ok, we booked the standard room, so we weren't expecting super king or anything, but this really was small. Overall though, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend. Just pay ten quid extra for the next room size up!

Visited the restaurant for the first time last night. What a fab place. Great staff, excellent service & fine dining. What more can you ask for.

Food and service were outstanding. Rooms are gorgeous, very clean and great amenities. Outside area is just lovely as well.

Excellent staff and a first class Sunday lunch. The quality of the refurbishment and extensions are of the highest quality and are extremely impressive. It was so good, I've booked to go back in a few weeks for our anniversary dinner!

3 of us had a birthday cream tea on Saturday 21st June. The receptacle they served the food on was totally impractable several of the cakes dident make it to the tablets they had fallen on the floor and there was no room on the table for them. Please get rid of them!
The service was poor as we had to keep getting up to call a waiter for more tea or clean plates etc. The cakes were delicious but it would have been nice to have one or two more savoury items.
All in all I feel a bit of staff training would be helpful as it would have been nice to have had a description of what was being served. Hopefully just teething troubles.

Me, my partner and daughter went out for Father?s Day today, unfortunately after commenting on how beautiful the place was everything else was quite a disaster.. we waited for around 35/40 minutes to have our order taken.. we got some pain au chocolat around 10 minutes after that, these were clearly not made fresh and for £3/4 per pastry you?d expect them to be (tasted just like the ones from tescos bakery heated up).. ten minutes later our drinks arrived.. tea and coffee were okay.. orange juice was quite sharp and definitely from concentrate again for £3/4 you?d expected something better? Another 10 minutes later so a full hour into our visit our food arrived.. all the produce looked incredible on the plate but unfortunately the poached egg was overdone and cold.. bacon & toast also cold.. no butter in site we waited another 10 minutes after asking for it to arrive.. so at this point we just didn?t eat and said we?d pay for the pastries but weren?t going to pay for the rest, credit to them they were very apologetic and said the manager would come to speak to us and we weren?t going to be charged.. you guessed it another 10 minutes no manager so we just left.. clearly not the staffs fault and this was all down to being understaffed on Father?s Day..

Nice decor. Went for lunch, which coincided with a wedding function and was very noisy. Food was well prepared but a limited menu. Staff were very attentive. May be better in the future if no other event taking place if you want a quiet meal.

Fabulous evening at the Ty Glyn the food was amazing and the surroundings stunning - staff were fab - how lucky am I to have this beautiful hotel and wedding venue on our doorstep - and what a credit to Wales - thanks to all the management and staff who made the evening so special xx
