If you don?t have time to read a long review, the headlines are ?amazing place, lovely staff willing to go over and beyond what is expected, please visit if you want to take good care of your eyes?.The longer version:I cannot rate my experience here highly enough. Brought in my nearly 95-year-old mother who has already lost the sight in one eye due to macular degeneration and has glaucoma also. She is understandably concerned about preserving the sight that she has (and with it her independence). In August she had noticed some changes and, although her usual high street provider could not see her, she was fitted in immediately here and treated extremely well. I felt reassured and confident that Dr Adrian Jones knew what he was doing and made sure that she was given the appropriate drops for her glaucoma and a referral was made to hospital. She was seen there promptly too.Follow up was also extremely good and my mother was patiently helped to choose new glasses. Adrian went out of his way, in a manner that I could not imagine anyone doing, to ensure she is able to receive her new glasses as she lives alone and has no transport into town. He also will be arranging for someone to come and see if my mother can be given any aides to help improve her vision at home where she struggles to see in dimmer light. Adrian and his lovely assistant Sandra were both so helpful and patient with my mother from start to finish.As a massive bonus, Adrian helped me resolve a problem with a contact lens. I had had a shard of contact lens stuck in my eye for over two weeks and it was causing me a lot of discomfort. An optician local to me had not been able to find it and sent me off to A&E at a leading eye hospital close to where I live where, after digging around in my eye for ten minutes, I was told I was imagining it and it was an eyelash. Feeling somewhat gaslit and knowing it was there and with it driving me half mad for another week, I asked Adrian for advice and, despite being busy, he offered to have a look and removed the thing in under 2 minutes. I cannot thank him enough for that as I was starting to despair of ever getting it out!So, a longer than usual review but worth every minute of time. I am so grateful for the help given and thoroughly recommend this practice to anyone who values their eyesight. It is a good lesson to look beyond the chain stores ? not that they are bad - but just so easy to default to the highly visible (no pun intended). I would never have known this place was here as it is tucked off the main street but it is most definitely a hidden gem.

Top marks from the Optometrist at Jones & Murphy.First, I called up to ask for an urgent appointment, I've had a painful swollen eye for four days...they found a gap & slotted me in-between appointments the same day.Then; when I popped in, the receptionist was lovely.I was taken through to the back and seen straight away. They are obviously fantastic but more than that, they are nice.The optician saw my swollen eye and knew exactly what was needed. There was a brief selection of (I guess) routine tests.On my way out, I bought a heated eye mask and was given a prescription for the corrective medicine.Almost straight away, I started to feel better. Even if my eye will take a few weeks to heal.Thank you.If you are looking for an optician, I thoroughly recommend this place.

Had a superb emergency appointment with the optometrist today. He was able to diagnose the problem instantly and prescribe treatment.Would highly recommended.
